Also here: Ydna (sitting), Martir, Airasophen (sitting), Kojo (sitting), Quinzella, Xaniten

Well played in my opinion...... dang yer good hahaha :)

That or do people really not care when you've stolen from them 15 times in a row? Or are they just not seein it?

Looks like Martir is yet another that's cut their teeth on warn interactions......sad really.

Well, I thought Martir didn't handle it all that badly till the warn.

I would however say that You(Falgrin) took advantage of broken game mechanics to continue stealing from him when he clearly thought it was you stealing and would have been watching you far too closely to pick his pockets after that.

Steal all you want till someone makes it clear they are watching you, but after that its extremely poor sportmanship and mechanics abuse to continue.

To mock someone for for RP by using warn is ironic when you yourself are not showing stellar skills in that arena in this case.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion Skirmisher, but mechanics abuse it certainly is not.

And please point out a place where I wasn't roleplaying the senario out? Do you really think that someone that is like Martir.. a giantman empath of few trainings, could actually see Falgrin steal from him? Falgrin has been practicing his art for years now and is very skilled at it.

I picture Falgrin as a type of street magician. You can watch him as close as you can, but you still can't figure out how he did it.

And I actually think Martir was roleplaying quite well prior to the use of warn. At that point in time, I simply chalk him up to someone that played it to the best of his ability and then had to resort to the WARN because he ran out of anything to come back with.

I should not have used the term mechanics abuse as it is quite incendiary.

I stand behind my opinion of stealing while the mark is clearly focusing their attention upon you.

No thief no matter how accomplished can pick the pocket of a person once they are brought to a state of heightened alert. As to your point of such an inexperienced mark being able to "spot" Falgrin, I can only point out that a real thief would not be so foolhardy as to steal while there are so few people around to camoflage their actions.

Again, I have no problems whatsover with you cleaning out someone who remains oblivious, but if someone is clearly looking at you and pointing the finger of suspicion in your direction then its time to back off and try again later is all.

I believe part of the point is...if Martir actually thought you were a thief, he would keep you a good five paces away so that you couldn't keep emptying his pockets. How long are you going to let someone that you believe is stealing from you, bump into you or keep dusting you off?

I was with Martir right up until the warn. Damn I hate that verb. It was silly he stayed around to let you pick him clean but I think it is a good point, street magician or no....for the rp to be "pure" you couldn't steal when he was staring right at you. Were you leaning against his chest and whispering in his ear? Feeling him up?

Didn't think so. Just think about it. I don't think you rped poorly as Falgrin, it's just a new avenue to think about it you really are into the rp thing.

I am also interested in how the new stealing system affects we thieves. I mean *cough*....thieves in general. I do love a challenge.

From the looks of his gear, Martir is a very young character. That makes me wonder if he is, in fact, a relatively new player. If so, that COULD explain the use of the dreaded Warn verb. A new player would have no way of knowing that something like Warn, which is built into the system, is frowned upon as severely as it is.

Personally, I am not fond of the idea of stealing from what are obviously very young characters with beginners' gear. The possibility that they are actually a new player always kept my thief away...for awhile. I figure anybody should have the chance to learn how things work before being robbed blind at every opportunity. However, that is just me. Each person plays it as they see it should be played. :)

His age could be better judged by the fact that he was running messages.

I'm not saying that it's impossible...but I don't know many true newbies who know what the warn verb is. There's nothing that says when you come into the game "If somebody fucks with you, use this verb". in fact, there are a lot of verbs a LOT of people don't know because there isn't really a good list of them and what they do. Not on play.net, anyway.

HarmNone

Yep. The messages were also indicative of the age of the character. That, and the gear, would have kept my theif away until I could be sure, somehow, that this was an experienced player in a "new body". ;)

Wow, that log was fun to read. Seeing through the eyes of Falgrin. How much have you gotten from me? ;)

They do have a point though... about someone suspecting you would make it much harder to steal.

>Falgrin reaching into your pockets? 547 silvers

The command is watch.

I saw a show where a guy stole things like ties and watches from people who were looking for it. It's not impossible.

No, it's not. I'm not saying that the thief could not back out and reapproach the mark with success. I am saying that no pickpocket could or would even try to pick the pocket of a mark looking right at them with suspicion.

Just wait a while till they arent looking, another time etc... and that changes everything, but lets do be realistic here.

Anything is possible. All you need is the right trick. Think of magicians. Especially the truly great ones. You're all on this heightened alert to watch for a mistake, to see the trick. But they know their environment, they're familiar with it and they can deceive you. And in this case, if this is HIS park, he spends all of his time there, then he's very familiar with it and very able to deceive his prey.

Pallon

No one saw him because the current stealing system is nearly omnipotent. The whole exchange was amusing, but I have to agree with Skirmisher that under GS3 it's poor play for a thief to continue stealing from someone repeatedly when they clearly indicate that they are watching said thief closely.

Sorry, but this a sore spot for me. On the ferry to the EN one time, the only other occupant was obviously stealing from my character while talking to him, and it basically came down to, "Hey dickhead, I know it's you, stop robbing me," and yet, my silver supply kept dwindling down. Lame.

A bit on the nose, don't you think?

I'll say this, though. Whenever a thief walks into the park and sees Falgrin it must be like walking into East Tower and seeing Drizzsdt. It's just a blank check, man, no one'll suspect them. Not that I would know.
