For the past couple weeks, my monitor has been getting occasional flickers of pale pink, so that whatever page I'm at at the moment is pink tinged for a second or so. It flickers five or six times and then stabilizes for hours and then it happens again. Tonight, not only did it do the pale pink flickers, but it turned fluorescent purple for about ten seconds straight. After the purple, it cleared back up, turned black about a minute later for just an instant, and then has been clear ever since. Anyone have a clue what's going on? I've never even heard of this before.

Sounds like it's just about to die. DOuble check to make sure your cables are connected and are secure.
Other than that, color distoration is the sign of a dying monitor.

The monitor is most likely going to crash soon. I'd suggest having it looked at, or more than likely, replacing it.

You should probably be able to tell if it's a software problem versus a hardware issue by doing the following:
1a) Turning the clock back to a system restore point that was not pink flashy screen of doom.
1b) Very much creating a system restore point now.
2) ??????
Start --> Run --> MSConfig
B) Under the "Services" tab, enable all, then hide all Microsoft services.
Deselect all of the remaining services by "Unknown" manufacturers (or programs that don't look like they have any tangible acronym for another start-up service [i.e. something like HP WMI.])
Under the "Start Up" tab, deselect everything.
Remember, remember, remember to have created a restore point.
Try using your browser for whatever it was that caused the flickering to occur -- And if it continues, then it's either a monitor issue (internal and/or external) or you have a small flamingo flapping its wings inside your hard drive (also known as malware.)
3) Profit.

Ok, you're a genius, Stanley. I haven't found it, but I think there really is a flamingo in this dratted computer. Restored it to a month ago and nothing I did would get it to flicker. Restored it to the restore point I made before going to the earlier restore and anything and everything I did made it flicker. Re-restored it to a month ago, the flicker's gone. I didn't have any unknown services show up on either restore point. Anyways, updated my virus definitions and am about to do a virus scan and then a malware scan. I'll let ya know if I turn up anything. Thanks for the advice everyone.

CRT. I've found one virus so far, hopefully shredding that will have this permanently fixed.

I'd call it a loose cable connection between the monitor and video card. That's the only thing that's ever changed my screen color, and it's happened often.
