Akari
03-04-2007, 12:23 PM
aks through the clouds and ash above in bright streams, bathing the area in shadowed light. Tiny crustaceans skitter across the beach, appearing and disappearing near the rocks of the sea. The gentle, rhythmic breaking of waves against rock and sand echoes through the cove, interrupted only by the occasional call of a sea bird. You also see the Akari disk, a steep incline leading up to the cove and a rapidly swirling whirlpool.
Obvious paths: none
>go whirl
You'll need to swim that.
>swim whirl

You skillfully begin swimming through the whirlpool. Before you even realize it, your swim comes to an end at the other side.

[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The water flows violently in several directions, pushing and pulling anything caught in the current back toward the beach. Sunlight sparkles on the surface above, but is of little use in the swirling vortex.
Obvious paths: south, southwest, west
>swim s
You swim south.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
Strong currents move as if with common poise and purpose, pulling and pushing violently downward. No light reaches these depths, but the sound of crashing waves is barely audible. You also see some muck.
Obvious paths: north, south
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim s
You swim south.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The water seemingly goes on forever in all directions, and no one way seems different from another. It grows increasingly chilly at this depth, adding to the effect of the vicious aquatic environment. You also see some muck.
Obvious paths: north, southeast, south, southwest, west, northwest
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim s
You manage to paddle your way south.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The total lack of light combined with the increasing cold indicates that the violent vortex of water continues to spiral downward.
Obvious paths: north, south
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>swim s
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly south.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The area is blanketed by darkness and silence. Strong currents tug fiercely in a downward spiral. You also see some muck.

[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The water swirls slowly and calms slightly as a current eddies gently upward. It lasts only for a brief moment, however, as the tranquility is quickly obliterated by the brutal renewal of the vortex.

You feel at full magical power again.

[Teras Isle, Underwater]
Strong swirls of water roil atop one another, and gentler currents eddy to and fro, each caught in an elaborate, if not turbulent, dance. You also see some muck.

Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim ne
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly northeast.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The water flows onward at fierce speeds, swirling and twisting wildly through the sea. The chill and total lack of light indicate that the current's path has taken it far from the surface. You also see some muck.
Obvious paths: south, southwest
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim s
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly south.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
The current continues along at a fierce pace, roughly swirling through an underwater trench. Several species of aquatic life swim about in apparent contentment, their bright, bioluminescent bodies shimmering in the darkness.
Obvious paths: north, east, southeast, south
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim se
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly southeast.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
A deafening roar engulfs the area as the water continues to jet through the trench, but has little effect on the aquatic life that moves along and against the current here. Jagged rocks and vividly colored corals stick out sharply from the stone walls, adding yet another element of danger to the treacherous path.
Obvious paths: west, northwest
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>swim w
You scramble about, but are unable to swim west.
Roundtime: 6 sec.
>

>swim w
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly west.
[Teras Isle, Underwater]
Light streams gently through the water from the surface above as the trench opens into a large, underwater chasm. Innumberable species of brightly colored life seem to ignore any encroachment into their habitat, swimming, skittering, and floating about with limitless abandon. You also see some muck and a dark fissure.
Obvious paths: east
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim fiss
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly through a dark fissure.
[Ruined Temple, Approach]
Grand steps of once pristine white marble climb towards an immense temple that lays in ruin. The majority of the roof has been ripped off the structure via some terrible force, only the pediment above the entrance remains. Decimated statuary, toppled columns, and overturned brass fire bowls are among the few identifiable pieces located in the rocky debris strewn about the watery landscape. You also see some muck and a dark fissure.
Obvious paths: none
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>
Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.
>swim step
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly to some cracked white marble steps.
[Ruined Temple, Antechamber]
Porous coral has grown between the fallen pilasters that block the vaulted archway leading into the atrium to the immediate north. Buried under a pair of fallen statues is a large, tarnished gong and punctured metal brazier. The colonnade sweeps out to both sides, leading further into the temple. You also see some cracked marble steps.
Obvious exits: northeast, northwest
Roundtime: 3 sec.
>swim ne
With powerful strokes and kicks, you glide smoothly northeast.
[Ruined Temple]
Dented and rusted pots litter the crumbling remains of a grand staircase. A gaping hole in the western wall indicates the former location of the column that is now permanently imbedded in the upper section of steps. You also see some muck.

This quiet street ends at a gate set into the canyon wall. The gate is carved of white marble, polished and gleaming with reflected light. Dwarves in clerical garb wander in and out, and the low, rhythmic sounds of chanting carry to you from inside. You also see a tent guard and the party tent.

He's in the temple area of Teras at level 68.

Ignot

Yeah i noticed that. I don't see that being such a big deal though.

Zarli
03-04-2007, 12:55 PM
I dunno, it was a little impressive that he lived through it considering how many of us die there with less coming at us. That's pretty good for someone that's not even 70.

Ignot
03-04-2007, 01:05 PM
I guess some of us are easily impressed. This game is very easy, im sure there are some out there who can make that trip even younger then 68 and not post it on the boards like it is some tremendous feet.

Ignot, take a level 68 char in there and then come back and say that... matter of a fact, take a level 80 char in there and then say that... that place is pure evil

Ignot

AestheticDeath
03-04-2007, 01:07 PM
Is there not a level limit to getting in there?

Akari
03-04-2007, 01:07 PM
it's not about "making the trip" at level 68 I killed a level 96 critter, and made it out of the harderst hunting ground in the game, alive... you obviously don't hunt there, or you'd understand the difficulty in that

StrayRogue
03-04-2007, 01:08 PM
I'm sure it is easy for people without stupid maneuver attacks.

Akari
03-04-2007, 01:09 PM
as long as you can make the swim, you can get in... but the swim isn't easy

Ignot
03-04-2007, 01:12 PM
I get it, but you act like this game is incredibly difficult. You could have just as easily died out there instead of living. Im sure other's will find that very interesting and im glad you feel it is a great achievement. I, however, don't see it being a big deal.

StrayRogue
03-04-2007, 01:14 PM
Yeah. You may as well be hunting the temple or the tower. You'll get the same exp.

Akari

Besides, you're spelled up massively.

The Ponzzz
03-04-2007, 01:25 PM
Well, I thought it was cool, seeing I was there at level 30 by magical means and didn't come close to hitting anything!

But I like taking on things 30 levels over me.

I'm always spelled up like that, Akari is a sorcerer... all I had on outside my circle was blurs, strength, colors, and thurfs, nothing by scrolls or magical items.. wasn't even wearing mobility

StrayRogue
03-04-2007, 01:55 PM
As I said, it's not that much of a reach for the easiest hunting profession in the game who is spelled up.

Amber
03-04-2007, 02:43 PM
You've got a right to be proud of yourself. Killing anything thirty ranks above you is a real accomplishment, especially hunting solo.

Akari
03-04-2007, 02:57 PM
*****But can you solo Stronghold?

I'm assuming you mean the Bowels... because the stronghold is simple... the Bowels on the other hand are alittle harder... I've fried there and lived... and I've been screwed by the stupid manuevers. Getting fisted in the Bowels is not fun!

Xandalf
03-04-2007, 02:59 PM
Heh, he was making fun of a former character sale... not asking you if you hunt the Bowels.

Don't sweat it, Akari.

Do you hunt in the temple on Teras? It is not your average hunting ground, it's very hard. And.. it's feat, not the things with toes.

"Hard" in GS just consists of "random chance to die via unavoidable maneuver". That's not really difficult so much as annoying.

um... whatever, My point is it's a thread about him doing something that a lot of characters that age mostly likely wouldn't even have tried and I'm not sure why anyone had to take the "I'm better than you, you're stupid for showing us this" attitude, it's really ridiculous.

Give it whatever words you feel like, it's hard to hunt there without dying, whatever the reasons might be.

Suppose we were to propose a game where 5 out of 20 sides of a die would result in a loss, and a person were to roll 50 times in a row without losing. Would this be indicative of skill or "training" on the part of the person? If a person in such a situation were to claim as such, would you be so quick to leap to his or her defense with erroneous suspicions about the motivations of those who you felt were attacking him or her?

Zarli

honestly.. what I think is that you need more fiber and something to do other than try your hardest to make someone else look stupid so you can feel good about yourselves.

This topic just showing off has turned into something pretty stupid and petty. But then it's not the only one either. I've noticed that anytime there's something similar posted, someone has something stupid and shitty to say.

Welcome aboard?

Regarding Akari -- it's nice he survived, but the fact is he didn't have to stand up to a single maneuver and only killed one critter (and had to wrack to do that). I'm impressed he was able to run around solo, but he very clearly could not 'hunt' there.

You could probably have a level 50 warrior run through the area and accomplish the same thing, but who would bother?

So, congrats on getting a look around? To quote his eminent she-ness, these aren't the adulation boards, unfortunately.

I realize that the title of this post may present the illusion that I really think I'm the man because of that, hunt? survival? sprint, and desperate attempt to stay alive? whatever it was... I just thought it was fun and interesting that I didn't die, and I thought I would share.
I know, some people don't like to root for the underdog, but if you do... I'm sure you enjoyed the post...

I'd guess it has more to do with the low self-esteem that comes with being made fun of a lot (and then told by Adult-X that it's because the other person has a low self-esteem, not you).

Bullshit.. there are people here that NO MATTER what you do will make asinine comments. There are some here that simply CAN NOT just say "good for you" and let it go. The only one who should care about how Akari feels about what he did, is Akari. If he wanted to post it, so what. To each their own. Everyone has thier own opinion on what makes for interesting reading. As far as I am concerned I have seen FAR more boring and stupid posts. The comments about how it's no big deal and so on, are nothing more than people being people, and I told Akari to just ignore them.
