There are a few people here I disagree with on a regular basis. I wouldn't ignore them.

I'd ignore the people that refuse to contribute anything beyond, "Shut up, asshole/bitch/fuckface/et cetera."

If all you have are negative comments to say, you're pretty pointless in any useful conversation. So those people would be the ones I would ignore. And there wouldn't be constant negative interruptions in every thread.

Seriously, I think there is only one person I would ignore, were I not a Moderator. That person is just a hit and run poster, never contributes anything but vitriolic comments, and is generally not an issue. Just gets on my last nerve. :D

See Maimara, that right there is the point. I mean seriously, are you that bitter of a person? I am not a super spiffy person, I can be mean, I can be stupid, and I can be a horrible person. I can also be kind and that's something I never see you be.

And I am going to college to get a career so that I not only have some job, but a good one that will carry me for the rest of my life. I do have a life, but you're so negative all you want to do is put me down and I don't really care to always have to listen to that. So yeah, I'd probably put you on ignore when the option comes out. Why should I even have to see constant negative posts from you?

IMO, Leloo, Maimara's posts aren't really bothersome.

The nice thing about these boards is that you can basically say what you want, "so-and-so is a fuckstain" style. On the main BBS you have to sugarcoat it and be really vague as to what you're talking about or Ysbail will pull your post. Or someone else, but mostly Ysbail.

That, and we have a whole five categories devoted to complaints. And sometimes negativity is just an opinion, and some people have a lot of negative opinions... I know I'm rambling, but there is negativity in the world.

It's a good thing to get used to.

I don't believe Maimara to be as negative as some seem to think. She's just honest in her opinions and beliefs and see nothing wrong in that. Not everyone is going to reply in a nice, sweet, angelic tone, so it's nice when people answer in their own ways. It adds spice to the boards. Although yes, those who ONLY respond with vulgar and useless posts don't contribute to the conversation, but they still have a right to state them.

There's a difference between not liking someone because their views always differ from yours, than someone who is always negative with no point in their statements. I think Maimara falls in the former, but that's just me.

GSLeloo
11-15-2003, 09:27 PM
What annoys me about Maimara was like... there could be pages and pages of some thread on some fine topic. And she'd come out of nowhere and just say something negative about someone. Am I saying she should be sugar coated? of course not, that's what I like about these boards. I'm just saying that if we're given the option, I personally would probably block her.

Betheny
11-15-2003, 09:29 PM
I rarely come out of nowhere and say anything. If I say something, it's rarely because someone doesn't deserve it. I rarely say something 'mean' about people I don't know or have no experience with. So do us both a favor and stop saying shit like that, and stop baiting me into making arguements.

Hun... when you go off on her in one thread for being always being negative and then start another thread about how it sucks when people are always negative and you'd block them.... that's baiting.

Hmm.. I probably did. Lately I've just found most of her posts to be rather cruel almost. But actually there were two threads where I liked what she posted, I agreed with her on them and like... I don't know, they didn't see mean to me.

Betheny
11-15-2003, 09:56 PM
1. I don't post here to please or displease you, you are inconsequential.

2. I did not just fall off the tree, okay? If I post about someone, chances are it's because I have had either a positive or a negative experience with that person. Therefore it isn't uncalled for.

3. I fail to see how you can rag on me for posting as I do, yet you don't freak out on StrayRogue. He and I post in the same manner. Sarcasm-heavy.

GSLeloo
11-15-2003, 09:57 PM
Because maybe I don't see the posts of his that are, but I don't find his to be constantly pointed at certain people to be cruel to them.

Betheny
11-15-2003, 10:02 PM
Seriously, I probably wouldn't have even mentioned it but you use the terms 'every post' 'always', etc. And I looked back on the things I've posted, and I don't see very many that I would even consider toning down. Most of what's posted is for humor content, maybe you just didn't understand that or something. I'm not sure. But it's really getting on my nerves, because I sure don't think I did anything wrong, nor did I attack you except in my own defense.

So could you please elaborate on exactly what it is that I do that makes your blood boil so much? If this is about the Travus thread, keep in mind you guys were already off topic, and those posts were taken way more seriously by you and Neff than by anyone else.

I think you need to re-evaluate and maybe read ALL the posts instead of focusing just on the ones that seem to get under your skin. They're not meant to get under your skin. I promise that.

What was the Travus thread? And I think what bothered me most was some I saw about.. what is that kids name. Garr? Not just in his thread but you randomly say in another something about seeing him drown in water.. and that was a bit mean to me and then in some thread he made you were just all over him. Now maybe it's a joke, and if it is please tell me you didnt mean it seriously. But otherwise I thought you were being rather harsh and cruel towards him.

I think the ignore poster feature is a bad idea personally.

It could take away from the little continuity that exists in the threads here.

I think we are all mature enough to practice self-censorship.

I do think that StrayRogue's post timer should be increased to five minutes. Possibly eight...

And The Edine should be on rampant posting probation.

I don't like the ignore idea myself. To reuse a very old pun... even a broken clock is right twice a day. You never know when someone will say something you might actually want to read, and also... if people are replying, you won't know what is going on.

Of course, people usually quote everyone, so you could always see that, but then what is the point of ignoring if your going to see it anyway?

GS4Gurl
11-16-2003, 08:56 AM
I don't think the ignore feature is necessary. I think if you post your opinion then you should have to deal with other peoples opinions as well. Only fair. Though, if I were to ignore anyone it would be Sean. I really really like the blowing the fuse idea Spun had.

I might put the girls name Daina is referring to as well. She whos name cannot be spoken, but then I might not because she's so nutty its kind of a shame to waste a good laugh. And that I am nosey too. :D

Maimara is direct, opinionated and emotional. Her language is very colorful and she's not afraid of using strong words. She is not always negative and when she is, she can back it up.

When I read the opening post of the thread, my very first thought was "Leloo's talking about Maimara" so yes, I would say you baited her.

Meh, being a member and moderator/admin of various forums i've seen plenty of examples the ignore option would be viable for. My only reason for using it would be to remove spammers posts from my sight. Big problems we have on others forums are prepubescent punks posting random crap and obliterating REASONABLE threads, subsequently getting them locked. So far i don't see that as much of an issue here. I have ignore on one of my php forums and meh no one uses it lol. Hell give it a go, can't honestly do any harm.

Ignore posters? Whatever for?

Personally, I believe several people who post here to be juvenile, moronic specimens who could easily qualify as poster children for ad campaigns warning about the dangers of fetal alcohol syndrome.

But if I ignored their posts, I'd lose out on whatever amusement value there is in mocking them and their assinine opinions. Assuming of course it's worth bothering, which most of the time it isn't. I wouldn't want to limit my options like that, however.
