Tiger kills girl at Chinese zoo
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42606000/jpg/_42606135_chinatiger_afp203b.jpg
A six-year-old girl has been killed by a tiger at a zoo in Kunming in south-western China's Yunnan province.
The girl was posing for photographs with the tiger when it was startled by camera flashes and pulled the girl's head into its mouth, state media said.
Staff beat the tiger until it released the girl, but she had suffered a crushed skull and died in hospital.
The zoo has stopped allowing visitors to pose with its tigers for a charge of $2 (£1), Xinhua news agency said.
The girl was identified as Rui Xin. Her mother was bitten on the arm while trying to rescue her.
A local newspaper said the zoo had been charging visitors for the opportunity to pose with the tiger since May 2005.

Girls are what they're drastically short on, every one is precious.

If it was a boy the tiger would have been put down.

Good, those fuckers breed tigers simply for their meat anyway (even though the Chinese don't happen to have the largest tiger pop in the world). Nice to see the animal kingdom getting it's own back.

Feel bad for the child who trusted her parents.
Parents should be flailed though.
Do you know what you are eating? You are eating your friend Manny!

It should have been them getting eaten by a tiger. Before they bred.
It does give me warm fuzzies everytime "idiot parent shocked when kid dies" comes from a country other than the US, though, since we seem to have more than our share.
Jorddyn, extraordinarily cynical today

I love how every time something happens involving a child, the thread gets littered with posts talking about how stupid the parents are and how they should die for being so unbelievably fucking retarded.
To all of you who hold this opinion: Just shut the fuck up. Christ.

Do they have lawsuits in China?

I don't care how long they went without a child being eaten.
If you don't ever bring the child in close contact with a creature we already know can and will kill a human adult with relative ease you wont ever be faced with a story like the one from the original post.
Life is filled with enough risks. To purposefully place your child in mortal danger for nothing more than a thrilling photo is whats "so unbelievably fucking retarded", not people commenting on that.

Why is no blame being placed on the zoo...?

I let my kids play with acid all the time. as long as nothing happens, no harm right?

Hydrochloric acid is pretty harmless, so I don't see a problem.
Plz define which acid you're talking about in the future lol.

I don't know that anyone said they were guiltless and thought i remembered some mention of potential lawsuits.
Be that as it may, they were not taking the tiger to peoples homes without permission and so the contact could never have taken place without the parents consent.

It's pretty illegal to act as a catalyst to the death and endangerment of the public, whether or not they were "taking the tiger to peoples homes without permission" (sic).
I can cite a billion cases against manufacturers, construction companies, doctors, etc., but I won't. The general point here is that if your product or service accidentally kills someone, you're responsible, even though the deceased clearly permitted the use of the product or service.

Possibly.
China has some very different laws than we do.
Can only wait and see.
