1. OHIO STATE
2. WISCONSIN
3. florida

Not fair for SEC teams I guess. LOL

OSU has only lost to UF, UNC, and Wisconsin all on the road. Would be hard to argue against UF winning it all, since they have the most experience. Wisconsin is a strong team who I wouldn't discount though.

I was enjoying duke outside the top 25 though.

I'll go with the AP poll where Wisconsin is 1, 2 is Ohio State and 3 is Florida

This is college basketball. Rankings don't mean shit except (very) temporary bragging rights. The only thing that matters is the Tournament. (posted as I am watching MSU slowly dissect Wisc...kind of surreal).

That being said, fuck Duke, go Big10.

This game's going to be a nightmare I think

(even though Wisc's up)

MSU is tough at home no matter what their record.

IMO college basketball rankings are as close to useless as you can get in a ranking system. If you're a Florida fan I wouldn't be worried in the least. If anything they can get their focus back and not worry about a HUGE win streak. They'll get their 1 seed and they'll be fine. It's nice to see OSU and Wisconsin up there..but that means nothing. We'll see how things go in the tourney..I can't wait!

What was Fla ranked last year with their, what was it (12?) losses, when they won the championship. ANY team can lose to another on any day. It all depends on who has the most focus during tournament play. I personally think that OSU (gag) UNC, and UCLA have the best chances at winning it this year. All of them have stumbled a bit but, all of them have well rounded teams and play well under pressure. No more fluke wins this year :cough: george mason:cough;

I would be very pleasantly surprised if OSU won this year with as young as their team is.

I think the key word is "surprised" there. There's no doubt they are very talented but I feel that their inexperience and inability to BURY teams like Florida and UNC have can come back and bite them. i.e. penn state game where they blew that big lead. As Marluxian said..any team..any day. I feel confident in OSU's chances but I don't know that they should be the most highly favored team in the big dance. I'll put Florida at that spot. Can't really argue with all 5 guys back that won it all last year. CAN'T WAIT! Even if you've got no specific team you cheer for..it's the most exciting shakedown in college athletics by far.

I think we can all agree though that the 3 teams deserve to be 1 seeds.

I would agree. On around the horn today people were taking Wisconsin/kansas over OSU. Surprising a little..but OSU is so young a lot of "experts" struggle to put them in as a #1 seed.

Considering WI just loss.....

Alfster
02-21-2007, 09:23 PM
Yeah, that puts them with the same number of losses as Ohio State and Florida

So your point is?

Wisconsin had two conference losses. OSU and FL have 1.

Marl

UNC has 3 conference losses, and is still #1 in the ACC

ACC in basketball = SEC in football

If we didnt have to play ourselves......

I agree with the ap and usa today polls. WI and OSU should be ranked higher than FL imo.

1 seed only gets you a free pass in the first round anyway.

True that.

If Wisconsin gets a 1 seed in the tourney I'm afraid they'll choke under the pressure and lose in the third round.

I'm not saying it isn't possible but with a conference rival with fewer conference losses I can't imagine why WI would be seeded over OSU.

Sunday's game will decide

That and the conference tournament..If either OSU or WI gets knocked out by someone other than eachother in the tourney..I can see a 1 seed going elsewhere.

Agreed..and it's even better not having to hear about how SUPER DUPER Duke is.

No , they beat each other up so much it drops their rankings on a national level. If ACC in bball or SEC in fball did not have to play each other they would dominate the top 10 every year

ACC Teams Non-Conference losses:
NC: Gonzaga
VT: Western Michigan, Southern Illinois, Marshall
Virginia: Purdue, Appalachian State, Utah, Stanford
BC: Vermont, Providence, Kansas, Duquesne
Duke: Marquette
Maryland: Notre Dame
GT: UCLA, Miama, Vanderbilt,
Clemson: Played NAIA teams only in NC play
FSU: Pitt, Wisconsin
NCSt: Alabama, Cincy, WVU
Miami: Buffalo, Cleveland St., Northwestern, Miss St, Bingingham, Louisville, Nebraska,
Wake Forest: Air Force, Georgia, Depaul, S. Florida.

From what I see the only teams that really got fucked by conference play were Duke, Maryland, and FSU. Other than those three, every team on this list had either lost to a couple of shitty teams coming into conference play. And for god's sake don't bring up Clemson.

ACC is MAYBE the third best conference in college b-ball this year. Historically they are the best, and I wont argue with that -- but this year they've had a disapointing year in terms of talent and teamwork.
