So, I got home from work today, and I had piece of mail that I didn't expect to ever see.
A few months ago, I was worried about my job security and started to post my resume and send it out. What I do now is sell large printing presses. Many digital imaging ones(DI) but we do have quite the assortment. The equipment I sell runs for $200,000 to $600,000, depending on what they want. Plates for these presses run roughly $20k a month. Anyways, 3 months ago, they asked me to stop selling presses and help them market a damn market research report. My mission was to sell 180 of them. None sold. My company basically had the idea that people would want to spend $600 to $1,200 on a pdf file. So I started to worry.
Once I got back out there with the presses, I sold 3 in Jan. Now, I was really wondering what the comission would be on three machines that sold for roughly $600k a pop. When I got my comission check in the beginning of Feb I was disgusted! Selling 1.8mil in equipment got me $3k before taxes. Uncle Sam and Child Support took 58% leaving me with just another lousy check.
Anyways, back to the exciting news, while I was trying to sell those reports, I tossed my resume over to Silicon Knights. They were looking for a new Public Relations Marketing guru with not too much experience. So, I got this letter in the mail today saying after reviewing my resume they would like to have a phone interview with me and if all goes well, fly me out to they HQ next week.
Now, it's NOT Silicon Knights, it's a sister company or a company that worked closely with them. I'm not really sure, seeing the letter is kinda cryptic. The position is to work on a marketing plan to advertise a new RPG that I think is an MMO. Says I'll be working with 4 others very closely. They really didn't tell me too much more information, probably because to hold back releasing the cat from the bag. But I'm fucking excited!
The phone interview is tomorrow(says to call ASAP for it), thinking of a list of questions and trying to be ready to ask anything they want to ask. Hopefully the pay is nice and the game is cool.
Anyways I had to share!
