a dark notched executioner's axe

SHOW: You see a sharp executioner's axe. The glint of the sharp metal tugs at your soul and entrances you, bringing forth the sudden vision of a thousand deaths, a loud scream suddenly brought to silence, at the cold brink of this fine weapon. Engraved deeply into the fel-wood handle are the words, "Your time will come". You also notice a small enchanter's glyph.

8X
Handaxe base
4 pounds
Dual Lightning Flares
Cast Elemental Catalyst when fully charged

The axe charges by killing creatures. The higher level creature, the faster it charges. It usually takes less than 1 hunt to charge at levels 30+. Activate elemental catalyst by raising the weapon. This will change your eye color. There may be other effects or ways to use it, but they are unknown at this time.

When not charged you will see:

The executioner's axe shivers slightly in your grasp, and you instinctively feel it does not yet have enough power gathered to unleash such an elemental catalyst just now.

When charged:

You raise your executioner's axe into the air, causing a whirling zephyr of intense blue light to wreath itself around you. The energy builds in intensity like the heart of a thunderstorm until your entire body is cloaked in the blazing aura. Slowly, the maelstrom subsides with a barely audible rumble, but your eyes feel strange and tingly.
Roundtime: 10 secs.

Dual Lightning Flares example

You swing a dark notched executioner's axe at a mammoth arachnid!
AS: +295 vs DS: +118 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +7 = +216
... and hit for 51 points of damage!

** A vicious torrent of crackling lightning bursts from a dark notched executioner's axe! **
... 10 points of damage!
Light shock to head. That stings!
... 20 points of damage!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Other Zests

As you draw your executioner's axe, luminescent slivers of electricity slither along the blade.

You slice your executioner's axe through the air and luminescent tendrils of deep blue energy flow along its surface like quicksilver.

You rub your executioner's axe and crackling ribbons of luminescent blue electricity creep along the blade.

The greater flared weapons whose flares, ironically, are worse than normal flared weapons : /

Just FWI, seeing I don't see it in your post, it changes your eye color for a short period of time when the weapon has been raised. That effect also brings the dual flares to have more damage, which STay already said, suck.

I have the flamberge in Plat, and while it has awesome zests, it's god awful heavy and shitty compared to a normal 5x flamberge with flares.

Nice to see another greater come out of hiding though.

I have a falchion with the greater lightning flares in prime, and yes I hardly use it now because the flares are aweful, but I love the eye change thing and the scripts are neat.

Yeah, these things were going for crazy prices back in '04 but I'm afraid you're probably too late to get much out of it, the cat's out of the bag about the flares.

Rooflez. I sold the 4x steam one for 9 million when I paid 4. It's still cool for the scripts and all, I guess.

I bought mine from Aemergin for 18 mil. Its 8x and has a nice show. When the sword flares at max I have gotten 30 pts of damage on both flares. So not too bad I guess.
