NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The final Harry Potter book will hit bookstores July 21, its U.S. publisher announced early Thursday.
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," by J.K. Rowling, will be the seventh and final book in the best selling series of children's book of all time. Scholastic (http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=SCHL) (Charts (http://money.cnn.com/quote/chart/chart.html?symb=SCHL)) said the previous book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was the fastest-selling book in history, selling 6.9 million copies in the first 24 hours.

The final Harry Potter book will be available July 21.
The book will cost $34.99 in hardcover and be printed under the Arthur A. Levine imprint of Scholastic. Online book sellers such as Amazon (http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=AMZN) (Charts (http://money.cnn.com/quote/chart/chart.html?symb=AMZN)) and Barnes & Noble (http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=BN) (Charts (http://money.cnn.com/quote/chart/chart.html?symb=BN)) are already taking orders for the book.
