Most people my age hates the 60's and the early 70's music, simply because they didn't lived the era.

Bastard.

I'm actually a fan of all different types of music. I even enjoy some rap. (That probably scares people since everyone seems to think I have gray hair or something.) I hate Country, I hate retarded heavy metal shit IE Slipknot where every other sentence is FUCK THE WORD. FUCK YOU. FUCK EVERYTHING, FEEL MY HATE!

So my age doesn't play a factor. I enjoyed some of the 80's music.
There is a lot of good music from the 80's if you are into this type (Note, I do not like all these bands). Michael Jackson, Genisis, Def Lepord, Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, The Bangles, The Stones, Whitesnake, Warrent, Bad English, REM, U2, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Ozzy, The Cure, Chicago, G N' R..... Those are just a few. I personally don't like some of them but they are pretty popular and it's not horrible or nothing.

I love the majority of 80's stuff. There was such a wide variety of music back then that was good. Shit like New Kids on the Block, Debbie Gibson and all the hair bands that got signed in the late 80's purely because they looked like women and had great hair.....SUCK!!!

I liked the new wave stuff from the early to mid 80's like A Flock of Seagulls, Human League, Thompson Twins, Simple Minds, Howard Jones, ect. If you can remember the 70's and how shitty disco was, New Wave bands were a god send.

The Police, Talking Heads and U2 were absolutely huge. Rush is another band that had killer stuff in the early to mid 80's. I'm not going to include Jacko the Wacko because I never really liked anything that freak put out.

Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Billy Idol, Whitesnake, Ozzy, Def Leppard, Scorpions and all the early hair bands still hold slots in my "favorite of all time lists." Bands like Cinderella, Warrant and White Lion were the beginning of the end for "hair band" metal. I don't see how they got into the metal genere. I guess it sounded cool.

20 years ago, it was New Kids on the Block and New Edition. Today it's NSync, 98 degrees and Brittany Spears. 20 years from now you'll be seeing the majority of these newer bands on "Where Are They Now" because they lack the originality of bands from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Hell, look at the Rolling Stones, Kiss, and U2. They'll tour until they drop and still top the earning list.

Until record companies let rock stars be rock stars, the majority of the junk on radio today will still sound neutered. The reason why rap is so popular today is the "bad boy" image they carry because their record companies allow and promote that kind of behavior. The last true bad boy rock n roll band was Guns 'N Roses. Think about it.

To sum it all up, most 80's music rules in my book.

Google is your friend.

Sellout Watch:

Night Ranger's "Sister Christian" is begin used in a Best Buy commerical. In the spot, a mid-80's "cool guy", leaning on his Camaro, brags to friends about his VCR with "remote control" -- one of those original units with the corded remote. (Anyone else around here old enough to remember those? When my folks got cable tv in the early-80's, our "remote control" cable box had punch buttons -- ala old-school car radio buttons -- and a 20-foot-long cord!) My wife keenly opined that this ad pulls a bit of a Boogie Nights ripoff what with the song, setting and brightly-colored "hot rod" that dominate the scene.

AOL radio on broadband's 80's alternative station is good.
Shame AOL itself sucks.

And yes, I remember corded remotes. And I know those round things with the holes in the middle and the squirrely yellow things are called 45's. And when Rick Springfield was on General Hopsital (and Demi Moore too, for that matter).
