Hpal:
I need to transfer a shitload of MP3s from an old compy and know that maybe 75%-ish are on the compy I am using now.
What I don't want to do is sift through three-and-a-half thousand MP3s in order to determine what I have and what I don't.
Is there an easier way to use the great AI mindpower of these two computers and implement a method of sending over the missing files?
I've got Winamp M3Us on each?
Also, remote assistance won't work as the old computer is internet inept.
Ty.

You could sort both playlists, generate an html playlist for each, copy and paste to a spreadsheet of some kind, and look for differences. This will be less than perfect if you have id3 tags that are identical for more than one file.
You could also just copy everything from the old comp onto a flash drive, paste it over, and hit "yes to all" when it asks you if it's ok to overwrite.

I have to bump this post because I said I would in The Thread of Randomness.
I'll read what you wrote right after I click this reply button, Latrin.

Heh, the duplicates will murder that :-[
If I can find a ridiculously super-inexpensive serial USB cable, then I'll use that.
I think I'll flash drive it up, otherwise. I really, really, really hope that I can find someone who has one, because I sure as heck don't. I've never even owned the only one I ever used.

Even (relatively) cheap little thumbs can hold a good 256 MB. I don't know the size of the library in question, but 256 MB is a good 50 songs a trip, which isn't terrible.

If you have a good connection you could gmail them to yourself, download them, delete email(s) and repeat. Possibly faster than transferring 256 mb at a time.
