DURHAM. N.C. (AP) - That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel? That's what Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, has come up with. Bohannon says he's developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine. Each piece of pastry is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.

While the product is not on the market yet, Bohannon has approached some heavyweight companies, including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks about carrying it.

Only in a America can you get fat and have your caffeine too all in one bundle.

I'll just drink my coffee, thanks.

Wow, we are getting way out of hand with the "energy" products.

Personally, I think these are awesome. Drinking 12 cups of coffee in the morning is all well and good, but it's not really feasible. Much easier to chew some gum or grab a donut/bagel on the way out.

The cardiovascular surgeons will definitely need bucketfuls of these coming to a future near you.

As a pastry dude, I think it's ioteresting, but not needed. I can just as easily substitute instant coffee or infuse my milk with coffee before making my donut mix, which would seem more fun to me.

Maybe I'll try this today at work...

Aside from a coffee mix, I'm thinking that one of the major differences is that these can be fuel-injected with unscented caffeine.

I have way too much of the Pavlovian response to the bite of caffeine to trust its effects without any sort of tangible taste :-\
