Surplus rifles

Has anyone ever bought one of these? I'd like to pick up a lee enfield, mauser, m1 carbine or something similar. I have no idea how to go about this, do you need a FFL or is that only for buying online?

In addition I'd like to get a cheap AK-47 clone, something like this:

No you don't need a FFL if buying locally. In almost any case you need a FFL for delivery. A lot of dealers will handle this for you at a cost/fee.

Plenty of avenues locally for M1 carbs and Garand. Several companies make after market m1 carbines.. do your research. Enfields are a lil more tough to come by.. also no ffl needed.

Mausers and K98 are a dime a dozen but you can really find some nice pieces. Mausers/k98 are made by many many countries both period and new and actually a lot of fun to collect.

I'm assuming this is for collection purposes... You said or "something similar" so a few other period guns I would suggestlooking into a springfield 03 or moison nagant.




I personally use http://www.gunbroker.com/ for some things (and to get a feel for market price) but local gun shows and networking are your best bets usually. Most ranges/clubs have flyer's put out with sell/want ads monthly as well and you can find some real gold.
Yugo AK's are ok.. but again I just suggest you do research before your purchase.. some are really shit.

Then you better buy good guns. RESEARCH.

Most ranges won't allow weapons with folding stocks fyi. If you want to shoot an AK style weapon at the range that you can mod your self and for cheap get a SKS and put whatever stock/mods you want on it.

Why? I've shot some surplus guns before, I don't care if they shoot with a 3MOA, the only other problem I can think of is that they kick like a bitch and it's harder to mount a scope. What's the problem?

Saftey is the problem. Thus do your research and make sure your getting a good rifle. Also most military rifles are designed in whole to have less recoil so that isn't a problem unless you have a 120lb frame...

If you get a good condition rifle and have a gunsmith look it over I'm happy with the safety level.

I fucking hate guns, but you should get an Argentine issue Mauser because all the rappers have AKs.
