Since when does one gem weigh more then another?

Certain Solhaven shells are obnoxiously heavy. I hadn't heard of gems of the same class being of different weights, but if you really want to be sure about it you should do the silvers check with a bank and a locker and see exactly how much more the blue weighs. Sometimes containers work peculiarly; an example of this is when an item is cursed (even after removal for a time) or weaponfired.

Since when does one gem weigh more then another?
I saw this little oddity when I was doing my gem research. I'd start with 200 gems in a sack, and after I was done 1004ing the 200 gems, I was only able to put 180-190 back in the sack.
From that info I kinda figured that the "quality" of the gem made them heavier then the .1 pound.
But as was previously mentioned a silver test would be the easier way to figure out if this was the case. I should bug Porcell about that ;)
