d100 open?

I though a 100 roll always = open.

You settle into the difficult task of picking the lock.
For some reason, you feel especially lucky.
You make an outstanding attempt (d100(open)=189).
You are not able to pick the lock, and learn little about it.

No, a >100 roll is never automatic open. It used to actually tell you what the lock size was (an extremely complicated lock, etc) if you missed it, but I guess that changed. You'd still need a 101 from (pick formula*) + droll - locksize to open a box, no matter what droll you get.

*I'm too lazy to post the picking formula to get your max lock

I got it after using a better pick and lore. It was right at my max.
