That would totally brighten my workday

Although, I'd probably end up trying to find a more scenic highway route to Denmark. Starting here in the U.S.

I hope they don't discriminate against minivan drivers :-[

the :ban: is a shot at selective moderation and how linking "porn" is a TOS violation. not that I mind teh boobies.

Also, this is also a fake video, done if I remember right, as a promotion for denmark's tourism. Disappiontingly there are no topless chicks on street corners in Denmark :(

Would seem to be more dangerous having heads on a swivel. Hell I almost get in accidents daily for just looking at boobs WITH shirts on.

Friend of mine lives outside of Copenhagen. Their drug laws are ridiculous in Denmark, but I never heard of this. I'll have to ask her.

I deal with Danish Captains and ship owners all the time with my job. I'll ask one next time I deal with them.

Boarding Agent for ships (mostly oil tankers) that come into the port of New York.

That does sound awesome. I've toured a WWII Victory ship a few times and ended up reading the logs.... often found myself wondering either how shitty or exciting being a merchant marine must have been.

It's cool in the sense that you get to see alot of new places, but the problem is you need a work visa in almost every country you go to, otherwise the authorities won't let you go ashore. And even worse, in the Port of New York, there's only 4 terminals that allow shore leave without any added costs. Kinder Morgan Terminal for example charges $390 to hire a van to bring the poor bastards from their ship to the gate of the Terminal (about a mile away).

Only the two Hess Terminals, BP's terminal in Newark and another facility called IMTT which holds Exxon-Mobil and Lukoil's shore tanks. I think if I were in the same situation, I'd get cabin fever REAL FAST.

Some companies allow mariners to bring their wife and kids along with them (within reason). But you find that it's mostly ships with Indian crews. That would be nice I think, but still it's a little crazy considering how long the contract is of some of these people. Most officers have 3 months on / 2 months off. Whereas the grunts (mostly Filipino's) like the Bosun or Oilers will do 9 on / 1 off.

The one cruise ship company we deal with (Holland America) promotes relationships on their ships, because they've found that it aparently makes people want to stay longer.

Also what's cool is that I've had offers from alot of these Captains that I deal with to come along on their next voyage to Europe. It's a two week journey across the Atlantic via tanker, but I think it'd be a neat experience. Unfortunately I'd have to fly right as I got to Europe, because I only have 2 weeks of vacation!

Most ships I have come from Le Havre France, Come-by-Chance & Point Tupper Canada, Acajutla El Salvador, Murmansk Russia, or Tallin Estonia.

HOLY SHIT.

It is NOT a hoax. LOL!!! I spoke with Thomas Schau from Torm Tankers this afternoon because of a fog problem in the Harbor, and I brought that up. He says it's one method they're trying to use to see if it will really slow down traffic. Aparently it's not wide-spread throughtout the country. It's only in a few spots in Copenhagen, but it's definitely real!

Flash of road safety genius
Nicola Smith

A ROAD SAFETY campaign that features topless Danish blondes flashing their breasts at passing motorists has been described as degrading, exploitative — and an enormous success.

Never before has the state-run Danish Road Safety Council attracted so much attention at home, let alone around the world, as it has with a spoof news bulletin featuring a team of “speed control bikini bandits” who try to persuade young men to slow down.

Dressed only in red hotpants, they stand by the roadside holding 50km/h signs above their heads and jiggling their breasts at startled drivers.

The council initially posted its 90-second video, which can be found at www.speedbandits.dk, on a modest 33 websites in early November. Within three weeks it had spread to 2,200 sites, with 4.8m viewers in 206 countries. It has received as many hits in Britain — 300,000 — as in Denmark itself.

Julia Pauli, of the road safety council, said there had been “a very positive reaction”, with half the target audience saying they would think more about the dangers of speeding. What the other half were thinking goes unrecorded.

But feminists and family campaigners have condemned what they call a “ridiculous” campaign. “It’s degrading,” said Randi Theil Nielsen, of Denmark’s Women’s Council. “It is based on the idea that young men are preoccupied with sex and this view of young men is wrong.”

Mary Honeyball, a British Labour MEP, said the clip was tantamount to soft porn and promised to raise the issue with the women’s rights committee of the European parliament.

My guess is that Randi has never been a young man.
