Grease: You're the One That I Want

OK, I'm not usually into reality TV shows - but my niece tried out for this show in NY and is going to be on TV this Sunday.

My niece, Alexis is an amazingly talented Sophomore at Penn State and is just the sweetest girl in the world. I'm soooo proud of her and I hope people watch on Sunday and cheer her on. (NBC - 8 pm eastern)

She's not allowed to tell us how she does but after watching last week's installment I know from the judges comments that she is one of the lucky ones chosen to go to LA.

This is an interesting concept for a show - the top girl and top guy are actually going to be opening as Sandy & Danny on Broadway. The three judging the contest are the Producer, Director and the Writer of Grease.

I hope you guys watch it!

It absolutely is an Idol ripoff - I agree.

Although I give a lot more respect to Broadway writers and producers than Paula Abdul or that Simon jerk.

Still...an excellent opportunity for the two lucky winners!

Never watched American Idol, But I watched this show last Sunday and LOVED it. Everyone likes Grease right? Congrats to your niece, there were some pretty talented people that they showed. (And of course those people that had no business even showing up, ha.)

Alexis is one of those people in the "pretty talented" category luckily - she makes it out to LA for "Grease Academy".

They did something like that here, called "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" looking for the new Maria for the Sound of Music. I loved it and I hear they're doing the Grease thing here next.

Six Years Later....

Lexi Rhoades has been in the Off-Broadway show "Sistas: The Musical" for the past two years. It came out on DVD (I bought three copies - I'm so proud!) a few months ago and just aired on BET yesterday. Watch for re-runs!

Lexi also is a featured singer in the new movie "Black Nativity" due out this Christmas starring Forest Whittaker, Angela Bassett and Jennifer Hudson.

I'm so proud of my niece!
