So being a Florida fan my whole life, I might be biased in this pick. But I truely feel that Florida will show up and win this game. Having over a month off to work on their inconsistent regular season play, I expect them to come out in the first half and gain an early lead. On the down side, if OSU comes out with their running backs and are able to convert on 2nd down then its going to be a long day for UF. Also, I think Florida has proven that they are the better team with the 2 minute drill. The Leak-Tebow combo has proven effective all year and I expect Meyer to take full advantage of Tebow's size and skill and his unknown pass potential to throw in a few suprise plays.
Overall, I see Florida upsetting the powerhouse of OSU.
UF 27 - 24 OSU
GO GATORS!

17-13 in an upset.

I'm taking OSU by about 17..I'm thinking 34-17. Florida is definately better than a lot of people are giving them credit for. I can't see them holding that offense to 13 pts but stranger things have happened. I hope all in all it's a good game and the Buckeyes pull away in the early/middle 4th.
34-17 Buckeyes win.
Go Bucks!

yeah, florida has had some late game problems, but they also have pulled out some wins in the 4th quarter. Look at the UF Tenn game....unbelievable ending

also, OSU is 0-7 against SEC teams in bowl games. Saw that on SC earlier

USC should never have lost to damn UCLA and should be in the game. As such my prediction is:
THE Ohio State University (Still don't know why NFL players add the THE) - 38
The "Crying Urban Meyers" Florida Gators - 24
On a side note I really hope they get extra tricky with Tim Tebow and have him pass more.
It should be fun to watch Ginn and Harvin two of the most explosive players in the game right now...

Dont' forget, UF has one of the best Defenses. Not sure of exact rank, but I think they are 3rd?

Michigan's defense was ranked rather high too at the time. Not saying Florida's isn't as good as Michigan's...but they got gashed up badly.

But to acknowledge what everyone has said, I really expect the first half to be pretty quick and high scoring. A lot of plays on the ground. The end of the half and third quarter will be low scoring and boring. Again, this is why I picked UF 27, OSU 24

01-08-2007, 06:51 PM
I'm curious to see if Tressel comes out and tries playing a little field position and letting everyone get comfortable on offense or if he rolls up the sleeves and lets the dogs loose on Florida and tries to punch 'em in the face early.
WRoss
01-08-2007, 07:09 PM
Guys, these are both very offensive teams, I was being conservative guessing 27-24. I would not be suprised to see both teams in the 30's....But as for Tessel coming out and letting the dogs loose and going aggressive early on. I'm not sure. That'd definately be a gamble, but with as consistent as Florida's defense has been in the first half and that most of their points scored in the second half were because of offensive turn overs....I really don't see that paying off. But for Florida's sake, I hope they do come out and try and be aggressive get an early turn over or a few three and outs.

He let 'em loose on Michigan's defense..and ran 'em with it. Just something to think about.

go play Boise state for the mid-major bowl
A rematch was in order -- especially when you consider a shitty team like Florida is now going into Tempe to get stomped by OSU. This wont even be a game.
Florida is going to get housed. Not even worth watching.
All you sad, sad, dillusional SEC fans need to realize that just because your conference is DEEP..doesn't make it the most talented overall. Throw anyone of those teams on the field with OSU/Michigan and kiss 'em goodnight.
Edited to add: Listen to any NON SEC homers like the goofs posting on here and you'll see that everyone is saying Michigan is #2 in reality. Does anyone here really think Florida is better than Michigan? Sad.
I'm not saying Florida will lose by 4 touchdowns but they will be close if not over double digit dogs. Squeeking by those pretty good schools..laughable.
Anyways..big game..heisman winner (landslide by the way)...best coach in the country..Florida is in trouble. Should be interesting..everyone breathed a sigh of relief as Ohio State fans when Florida got picked. Funny really..ah well. Anything can happen! LoL
Ahhh...the irony.
Would I rather play UF? sure. it's an easy win and I don't have to sweat it. UM would be a much better game, and is the only team in the country that could beat OSU.
Florida has a shot in this game if Ohio State shoots themselves in the foot repeatedly and in the worst way. Talent wise, Ohio State is hands down the better team. Coaching..same. Big game players..None better than Troy Smith. Florida can make it interesting but they definately don't pose as big a threat as Michigan.
Maybe LSU and UF should team up and play OSU together...that may give them a shot of at least covering the spread.
Are you freaking kidding me? SEC = Pop Warner apparently.
I guess if you get excited to watch your team be blown out, then more power to you.
Good call, all y'all. So bring it. Tell me how things would have been different if Ginn had been in the game. They weren't doing much better with him. Tell me how the 51 day lay-off hurt so bad. That didn't matter when you were talking shit for the last few weeks.

texas lh next year ftw!!
Yay, I sobered up enough to find the computer again!
I felt obligated as a Florida alumna to come comment, even though after that game there's really nothing to say.
Where would I even start? I could say something about how half of OSU's points came because of blind Pac-10 officials. They missed another call early too...the first three out of four plays should have been OSU penalties.
Or I could wonder how someone wins the Heisman with four completed passes in a game.
But honestly. Seriously? I had expected Florida to win, but...
Seriously?
THIS was the unstoppable juggernaut?
Bitch all you want about having an off day and a bad game. The one player that can catch a ball not there? Poor things. I'm amazed how the team that played tonight made it this far.
The game tonight was dull. I'd much rather watch the Boise State game from last week.
...and now that I mentioned Boise State, I would like to say that I hate everyone that's calling them National Champions just because they're undefeated. I flipping HATE Cinderella teams and I wish we had a playoff system just so we could shut them down and shut everyone up. Right, George Mason?
...okay, I think I'm done. I needed to get some heckling out of my system. There were like five Ohio State fans at the Gators bar tonight, but they left before half time and deprived me of shrieking rights. THEY LEFT BEFORE HALF TIME. Way to support your team, losers.
Ohhhh man. I have no voice and a hateful headache. But you know what?

OSU played with no fire, no intensity, and no passion and even if they had ANY of those things they would have still gotten buried. They looked like garbage and Florida looked like they could have taken on an all star team picked from the best throughout the rest of the country. Very impressive performance by Urban and the gators. Total dominance and very disappointing. I'll make no excuses and point no fingers. That was just a terrible game and I've never seen Tressel coach so badly and get outcoached so easily. Mad props to Urban and the team.

He is what he is... and fills the role nicely. I don't expect that role to change and especially since UF has the number 1 QB commit for next year. As long as Meyer is at the reign's I'd expect a lot more of the same.

He's great in the sense that he averages 5.7 yards a carry rushing.. when he is under center the team has to set up for the option/run... but then he has the talent to 3 step and throw for the TD.. because there are 2 defenders spying the qb rush that left the WR wide open.
Very good job.

Trinity Catholic (Ocala, Fla.) senior quarterback John Brantley de-committed from Texas yesterday for Florida. The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder is rated the nation's No. 2 quarterback and No. 16 overall recruit in the Class of 2007 by RISE. He was named Gatorade 2006-07 National Football Player of the Year this season.
Brantley went 27-1 as a starter at Trinity Catholic and set the state record for career touchdown passes with 99, breaking the previous mark of 98 set by current Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and current Florida State quarterback Xavier Lee. Brantley also completed 61.5 percent of his passes during his career for 6,802 yards.
