OK, so they say getting 8 ranks per level in magic skills equates to having singled in two handed weapons as far as DS goes while using a runestaff.
So if I single in OHE weapons, instead of trying to get 8 ranks in magic skills and using a runestaff would I get the same defense?
I would think so, but I want to make sure before I screw up a fixskills.

I think OHE DS is calculated differently from THW DS, because if you're going one-handed, there's an expectation you're getting Shield training as well. IE, they bump up THW DS because there's no off-hand thing to protect you, and two hands implies big enough to block like a shield.

I might be totally talking out of my ass on that one, man, I don't know. Mechanics have never been my strong point.

Relevant to what you want to know is...
Using a two-handed weapon provides a 50% bonus, otherwise no modifier. The weapon enchant is applied before the 50% parry modifier for two-handed weapons is added. For one-handed weapons, the bonus is plus/2, for two-handed weapons, the bonus is the plus (enchant of the weapon).
Disclaimer: play.net is not updated too regularly so the eq's might be slightly off. But yeah, thw gives more ds than OHE without shield would.
