Just wondering if crossbow is viable up to cap, or does everybody use long/composite??

Im not an archer but it seems pretty slow compared to long/composite. I can't see many people kneeling and sniping in OTF but I could be wrong. Guess it depends on how well you can hide.

Most people simply get tired of all the commands necessary to hunt with a crossbow. Can it be done? Yes. But a longbow provides higher DS and less clunky mechanics.

That being said, Kitsun hunted with a crossbow for quite some time in the Barrier. ;P

That being mentioned my character had an elemental crossbow that didn't require anything except FIRE to kill stuff. Being a rogue with combat mobility meant not getting caught while kneeling, ever.
I carry a heavy crossbow as a backup weapon incase I am disarmed. There are other non-hunting uses for crossbows... but when hunting is concerned, its a backup.
Combat mobility, gambits, and shadow mastery help diffuse some of the burden of using a crossbow in the shadows.
PS. My rogue hunts the aquaducts and snipes an occasional Ithzir if he finds it alone.
I would like to see greater consideration given to heavy crossbow bolts and plated armor since thats the reason why crossbows were used back in the 'days' of sword and board.

Absolutely. They should have a retarded high DF against plate. Supposedly, the pope outlawed crossbows in warfare because a bunch of peasants could take out his precious cavalry.
