Yup. You know why?
TIME magazine deems PS3 a bust (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/18/time-magazine-deems-ps3-a-bust/)
Wii is totally blowing PS3 and Xbox away right now. But I still see Xbox as being the long-term leader.

the reason Wii is blowing the PS3 away is because it's easier to get.
the same stories about the Xbox360 last year. If you don't want one don't buy it. I'm just providing an opportunity

It's actually the reverse. The Wii is much harder to get, selling out pretty much within minutes. People are still lining up in front of stores the night before a shipment.
PS3's are apparently relatively easy to get. Some stores have had PS3's sitting on a shelf for a whole day before someone buys it. There's also been a lot of returns. Probably from people who tried to eBay it, but didn't get the price they wanted. A lot of the eBay PS3's have been selling for below retail. I was tempted to buy a 60gig PS3 I saw on eBay, with 2 minutes left in the auction, with a high bid of $443, but I had a feeling the seller would bail out.
In fact, checking right now, there are around a dozen 60 gig PS3 auctions with less than 20 minutes left that are selling below retail.
Oh, and:

Exactly.. I checked ebay when I saw this post and noticed a shitload BELOW retail. The only reason.. and I mean the only reason I'll buy a PS3 is if sony has an organized dynasty league for NCAA FOOTBALL.
At that point I'll cream my pants.
I agree with the above , in my searching for a wii I noticed all are double retail as where ps3's are barely getting to retail.
The only reason.. and I mean the only reason I'll buy a PS3 is if sony has an organized dynasty league for NCAA FOOTBALL.
I still say someone should come up with a true first person football game where you play only one person throughtout his career....

I just figured i'd throw in my two cents. The Wii is blowing both the 360 and PS3 out of the water as far as consoles sold is because, 1. It's 250$, and 2. It's new and gimmicky. By the end of the year, the Wii sales will tank, by then, the games will look SO outdated that it won't even be funny, and the gimmick of the controller will be worn out. It's a fun console, don't get me wrong, but don't expect it to take over the market. Most people who buy a Wii will also be buying either a 360, or PS3.
The way the analysts see it end game is Sony holding most of the market, at around 48%, the 360 at something like 32% and the Wii at 16%. Because face it, the controller is nice, sure. The price is nice, sure. The games however, will show their age within a year. Microsoft ends up the winner though, as they will have stolen a huge portion of Sony's market. Sony I believe before the 360 had something like, 72% of the console market. I mean, if you want to get into the the brass taCKS of it, in september alone, Sony sold 300,000 PS2's(Yes I know that's awhile back, but it's off the top of my head). Sure they're 129.99$ but you get what i'm saying.
The Wii though, is by far one the most impressive console launches i've seen in a good long time. As of today it's sold 4 million consoles world wide.
Anyway.. this is the way I see it.

Your post is still retarded. And if I'm going to be a nazi about it I'd tell you it wasn't a typo, and typos have nothing to do with grammar.
That and the 360 is still leading in consoles sold, so the premise of your post is outright wrong, and I don't believe that in a years time that the Wii's games will be outdated, especially considering what you said in your own post about the PS2 still selling strong, clearly graphics aren't the driving factor.

Most people who buy a Wii will also be buying either a 360, or PS3.
Think about that statement for a second, and you'll realize why that's a good thing for Nintendo.
The Wii though, is by far one the most impressive console launches i've seen in a good long time. As of today it's sold 4 million consoles world wide.
In other words, it's taken 2 months for Nintendo to sell 4 million consoles. It's taken Microsoft more than a year to sell 10 million consoles.
By the end of the year, the Wii sales will tank, by then, the games will look SO outdated that it won't even be funny, and the gimmick of the controller will be worn out.
People said the same thing when it came to the DS vs. PSP. The PSP is sexier than the DS, has far better graphics, and traditional gameplay. It's also about twice as expensive. Nintendo's sold about 37 million DS's, Sony's sold about 20 million PSP's.
The way the analysts see it end game is Sony holding most of the market, at around 48%, the 360 at something like 32% and the Wii at 16%.
Those same analysts are saying Sony will sell 75 million PS3's by 2010. From now to then, that's half a million consoles per week. Not that likely.

You're not quite getting it. The Wii is a half-assed Gamecube 1.5 with a new control scheme. Gamecube games don't sell for a goddamn these days. I wasn't bashing their console, i'm telling you how I and many other people see it. The graphics WILL look outdated, and the way Nintendo has tanked in console sales in the past, it's a pretty good idea to bet it'll happen again. Nintendo does great in the handheld market, but they haven't had a winner console since the SNES. The PS2 still sells strong because of the games that have come out for it, not because of the graphics. I mean, sure, if the Wii delivers some oh god, i've got to have it titles, then sure. Right now they've got.. Zelda, just like they've always had Zelda.
Like I said earlier, Microsoft is going to win in the end in the sense they'll have stolen a good deal of the console market from Sony, but they still won't have more. Sony has a powerhouse of a console, with the most graphically advanced game on it being Resistance: Fall of Man. Which, looks on par with the second generation Microsoft game, Gears of War. The PS3 as of right now though, isn't really worth owning because there are no games for it. The Blu-ray player is nice though. Come Spring though, you'll see a massive spike of PS3's sold as a lot of the games worth having for it come out. I suppose another decider could be which HD media wins. If Blu-ray wins, it's a definite Sony win as Microsoft will struggle having stuck to conventional media.
In the end though, only time will tell. We'll come back to this post mid next year and we'll look at the numbers.
As an edit, i'd like to point PS3's are still selling out as soon as they hit, MINUS the stupid fucking bundles retailers are trying to sell.

I'm going to say that the 360 is really positioned well for games, Microsoft has their DirectX SDK for writing games for the PC, with version 10 of DirectX they added "XNA" which makes for the same API (application programming interface) to write games for the 360 as for the PC, so as a developer you can just code your engine once and it's good for the PC and the 360, oh, and the license for the 360 API is wicked cheap, $50 (or $100 I forget) a year. The PS3 did exactly the opposite, they use an entirely different programming paradigmn (sp?) so game engines have to be rethought to work for the cell processors (or, what's more likely, they take performance hits to emulate an x86 processor).
Nintendo has been fantastic with making fun games... they're not amazing graphically, but look at mario party, that game is ridiculously fun despite shitty graphics.

The Virtual Boy trounced other consoles, and still does!
The Blu-ray player is nice though.
The PS3 is sold at a loss, the 360 is sold at a loss, the hardware in those machines costs more than they sell them for. I forget the exact number, but the Wii could be sold at something like $100 and still make money, the reason it's $250 is that if it were so cheap it would not be taken seriously. The PS3 is currently a $500 Blu-Ray player, cheap just blu-ray players go for $800... Sony is banking on people buying games for their PS3, what with the loss on the console... (The PS3 costs $840 to manufacture)

It costs nintendo about 160$ to make a Wii, and they sell them to wholesalers for about 195$. Nintendo did do it right in the sense they're making pure profit right from the get go, something around the tune of 80 or 90 million dollars in profit their first month.

I like my PS3.
I'd probably like a Wii just as much if I had bought one instead.
In the grand scheme of things, an extra $300 doesn't mean all that much to me. I opted for the PS3 because even though it was harder to get at the time, I have some attachment to a select number of video game series that won't be going to another console.
Zelda is nice, and so is Halo...but what else do those systems have? I'd much prefer to continue being able to play Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy games as they get released. Even though now that I think about it, the last few games of each of those series have kind of sucked...

Gears of War for Xbox 360 was a big selling point for me. I just haven't seen enough/decent titles for the PS3.
I like my PS3, once I got my HDMI cable anyway. My only gripe with the ps3 is that it feels a little sluggish at times and that the controller seems slightly delayed via the wireless. But the blu-ray copy of the fifth element looks amazing on my TV, fight night 3 is a blast so far. The only other dissapoint though is like for the xbox 360 they look the fantasy draft out of the madden 07 franchise mode.

Spring time will be Playstation 3 time. I'm personally waiting till then to pick one up, not to mention they should have fixed their hardware shortage problem by then. I believe they've takin great steps already in getting them in to stores, but they're still disappearing off shelves just as fast. Well, unless you count the bundles where the store trys to charge you 1200$.

It's funny I was at the store, a PS3 to my right, a 360 to my left and the Wii stood before me! And yet, I walked into the store with position to buy one of those three sirens, each calling for me from my car! But, after looking closely at the games, I was like, "Fuck this shit, all the games are ASS!!!!!!!!!!!"
I really want a Wii, but the titles out now all seem too kiddie for me. Zelda is the title I want though. Which I can get for my GC. Even looking at the games to come up til summer, all look too childish.
The PS3 just scares me a little. I went through 4, yes, 4 PS2s. I don't want to do that with a system that's 3 times as much.
And the 360 is nice, but not enough games yet for my taste.
I do believe Xbox will lead victory for next gen systems, just due to the year head start. And they got their heads out of their ass with titles that made the Xbox(1) fail in selection.
So I dunno. Sucks when ya wanna drop a grand on games and you end up just walking out with FFXII. :(

Eh, most of the "kiddie" titles are being largely ignored (crap like SpongeBob and Avatar). Zelda's definitely not a kiddie game; neither is Red Steel, Call of Duty, Far Cry (though that game sucks), Madden 07, Wii Sports, or Trauma Center. Elebits and Rayman, while they have cutesy graphics, can't really be classified as being aimed towards kids.
Also, a lot of developers are planning on bringing their franchises to the Wii. I know there's a Final Fantasy planned for it (hopefully not as restrictive as Crystal Chronicles), it's looking likely that there'll be a Metal Gear Solid on it, and the president of Nintendo of America is apparently pushing really really hard to get a Grand Theft Auto on it.
In other words, Nintendo's clearly trying to reach a more mature audience.

I bought a PS2 the day of open, it kicked the bucket while I played a PS1 game. Guy at EB said the laser died. Took that one in as trade and got another one for I wanna say 130? Then, it died shortly after I installed the HD to play FFXI on it(my PC at the time sucked). I had a warrenty, but to send it to Sony was looking to cost me almost as much to get a thin new one. So, then, I wanna say 2 months ago, I got KH2 and I kept getting read disc errors, before loading the game or while playing. And now I have the 4th one.

My place is pretty much the opposite...smoke, animals everywhere, very rarely use CD cleaners, and...well my first PS2 sorta died after about 4 years (I say sort of because strangely, it will still play PS1 games), and I've had no problems with the skinny model I picked up after.

If you look at the exclusive titles coming out on each system, which would you rather play? The Playstation 3 has the games a lot of people want to play. Like, Metal Gear Solid 4, Lair, MotorStorm, Gran Turismo HD and 5. Microsoft has some good exclusive titles too, like ShadowRun, Halo 3, and Project Gotham Racing, but to say that Sony is losing their exclusive titles to Microsoft is a ludicrous statement, at worst. I can think of only a few titles that Microsoft is going to get that were exclusive to the Playstation 3. No one seems to recall that Sony also stole a few exclusive titles from Microsoft, The Elder Scrolls, and F.E.A.R. On the Nintendo camp they've got some good titles coming, like Metroid, and Sadness.
But to sum it up, Microsoft is hardly stealing all of Sony's exclusive titles, and anyone who says so, obviously hasn't looked at the list of titles coming out on the system. They're all good systems, in their own rights. I'll end up owning all 3 eventually, and to be honest i'm probably going to pick up a 360 in a few weeks, which I can't say about the Playstation 3 which I won't be picking up for at least 4 or 5 months. I'll get a Wii as soon as I can find one though, heh.
I’m waiting. Not a dedicated fanboy to brave the lines for a newly released console with possible bugs.
I’m still leaning towards Xbox 360 for three main reasons. Price, 1080p, and a solid selection of games. If the PS3 was not so expensive I would be all over it... then again, blu-ray DVD may make it worth it.
I am loyal to certain game makers due to certain games. EA I know will always produce across the board.

The Playstation 3 has the games a lot of people want to play. Like, Metal Gear Solid 4, Lair, MotorStorm, Gran Turismo HD and 5.
MGS is probably not going to be an exclusive for long.
Lair, if you read recent previews of it, is apparently unplayable due to severe framerate issues, as well as awkward controls.
Motorstorm looks neat, no doubt. I'd still take Mario Kart over it any day of the week.
Gran Turismo HD and 5... which is the one that comes with one track and one car and then charges you 25 cents to download additional tracks and cars?
I'm not saying the 360 is better... it's been out more than a year, and the only games I'm even remotely interested in playing is Dead Rising and Gears of War. The rest I couldn't care less about.
I am, on the other hand, saying that the Wii is more fun than either of them, HD graphics be damned.
