Obviously its possible to do a thw claidhmore weilding bard, but is it better than having an eventual 7x double sonic flaring lance, at the expense of TPs?

Mechanically, you'll be better off with polearms. They're 1 tp cheaper on both sides (physical and mental) when compared to twohanders. Also, the stopping power of a lance is very impressive, assuming you pick a race that can achieve a 5 second swing time (for an eventual 2 second swing time with tonis up). Two handers are extremely viable though. However, if you're planning on hunting at the top end of the game, I wouldn't count on using a claidhmore unless you feel like spending cman points on disarm. One great thing about sonic weapons is that they're immune to being disarmed.

Since bards generally don't ambush from hiding lances and polearms are generally better IMO.

With random crit mapping and having the ability to sing up a pretty much weightless weapon that's generally heavy, polearms are your sweet spot.

A flaring weapon when fighting out in the open is the best way to go, and the lance is quite the nasty weapon to use. For speed at lower levels, go with a two handed spear. Once you can get your speed up, bring the pain with a lance.

Could always pick up 40 ranks of ambush added to your 1x CM and eye aim th-spear for anything that's not plate.

More efficient than just normally attacking in my experience.
