I'm applying to a tech-company, in a marketing position. They asked that I find a "technology product that has recently failed "and then "create a new marketing scheme for it with a budget of 0$."

Can anyone think of any technology products that have failed recently?

Thanks for any help!

Ug, college job essays. Ridiculous. Once you land that first job, you won't have to deal with that sort of BS anymore, and it's strictly based off your work experience.

Does it have to be a piece of hardware?

What about AOL's dial-up service? That would be difficult to do with $0 but it would show off creativity if you could figure it out.

You could talk about the PS3's launch failure. Or even Vista's launch failure.

Vista hasn't had a launch failure yet...

What's that funky scooter-thing that works off your own movements...it's like a hybrid of a skateboard and a gyroscope with a handlebar. The inventor has come out with a new version of it but he hasn't been successful in sales. I wouldn't exactly call it a full-out failure, but it is definitely not successful. I think there are a lot of ways you could re-market it, find new demographics to present it to. Maybe even as an exercise/mobility machine for people with fibromyalgia or something, so they still get to use their own movements and muscles, without as much physical discomfort, who knows.

The Segway. You could start with fixing the bug that causes it to buck the rider off. Oh wait...they are already doing that [they recently recalled a ton of those things].
