How did you upload your > 100KB file into avatar format?

I have a 200k flat file that needs its beauty not to be obscurred by technicalities and whatnot, but am willing to make such a sacrifice if I cannot find a way to beat around the avatar bush otherwise.

You could lower the jpeg compression rate, try a gif with 32 colors and diffusion, or reduce the resolution until it just hits 100k. It helps to have a program that will allow you preview side-by-side comparisons.
