Greetings,
I have a few items that I've picked up from the Promise or the EG auction that I'm curious as to their value. They are not for sale, unless I find something that's more in line with my character's RP for trade.
----------
an ancient glowbark runestaff - This strong, straight shaft of glowbark bears only one blemish; a large knot at the top of the staff has been hollowed out. Floating within the hole is a brilliant green blazestar that slowly rotates laterally. About a third of the length down the shaft is wrapped a worn leather grip.
This is the water-aligned runestaff sold at EG this year. It was said to have been crafted by a group of Illistim mages, one for each of the four primary elements, and appears to work much like the profession pavises from years ago. The information provided by the maker is as follows:
The ancient glowbark runestaves can be held by anyone, but their spellcasting abilities can only be activated by a wizard of the same elemtnal attunement as the staff. There is a staff for each of the four elements. Alone, each runestaff has access to one spell. When in the presence of other elemental staves, each staff gains access to other spells as long as the wielders are wizards of the appropriate attunement. The spells share a common charge-pool which recharges 10 charges per day and holds a max of 40 charges.
Spell access breakdown:
Air - Hand of Tonis (both warding version and bolt version, dependent on stance)
Earth - Hurl Boulder
Fire - Major Fire
Water - Major Cold
Air/Earth - Sandstorm
Air/Fire - Firecloud
Air/Water - Major Shock
Earth/Fire - Boil Earth
Earth/Water - Major Acid
Fire/Water - Steam Bolt
When all four staves gather, they automatically create a Mana Focus similar to the spell.
WAVEing the staff casts the currently set spell.
TURNing the staff will adjust the spell setting to another one that currently is accessible (note that unless other staves are present, only one setting is available).
GAZEing at the staff shows its current spell setting.
And there are a couple other fluff scripts.
A few scripts that have been discovered are as follows.
>raise my runestaff
You raise your runestaff skyward! Immediately the green blazestar atop your runestaff begins spinning rapidly, emitting a radiant green glow!
>turn my runestaff
You wave your hand around the green blazestar magically suspended at the top of your runestaff. Tiny specks of light flare up inside the jewel, spiralling about in a brilliant veil of color before subsiding once again into a green glimmer.
>gaze my runestaff
As you gaze into the green blazestar cap of your runestaff, tiny, brilliant specks of light trace a symbol for "Major Cold" before fading away.
-------------
Second is a bone-inlaid hawthorne ayr - Thin slivers of yellowed bone have been laid into the short neck of this otherwise unadorned ayr. The paired courses of strings have been crafted of dried gut and knotted at the bridge. The wood of the pear-shaped instrument has been carefully polished and obviously well taken care of.
This is a master quality instrument of the necked string group. It is also a Tehiri instrument.
-----------
Last is a deep-hooded red wool greatcloak clasped by a golden sunburst. It weighs either 4 or 6 pounds, holds 150 and is a feature concealing cloak. If worn with the hood up, looking at the person will replace their feature line with "It is difficult to properly see his features as the hood of his greatcloak is pulled down over his face." (Messaging's for a man, obviously)
Thanks for any help!
Gretchen
