How do you determine the special abilities of a weapon? Like will the quake mattock come up in a bard lore song?

So... would bard singing determine everything about an item? Short of weighting level etc.

Ok, I'm testing this weapon I bought. Think it's a defender. What I did to test it was get a normal non-enchanted weapon (of the same base) and tested my DS in stance defense. I consistently got +3 DS higher with the weapon in question then the normal weapon. So can I safely say it's a defender?

Try it in offensive.

Enchant adds to DS as well.

Sorry, I don't know why I said stance defense. I actually tried it in stance offensive and the bonus to my DS appeared (actually I never tried it in stance defense)...

If your going to test a weapon this way to determine if its a defender, use another weapon of the same enchant, not a 0x weapon.
What they are saying is a weapon will add to your DS whatever stance you are in. Even if its only a little bit.
So if your weapon is 4x, test and make sure another 4x weapon gives you the same defense.

You'll know if you have a defender weapon. They are neither common nor unaccounted for.

Hmm, difficult to get a same enchant weapon type for this particular piece (high enchant).
But for a quick check. In theory if I stand in stance Offensive and use a 0x weapon of the same base (so for 'handaxe base' use a off the shelf handaxe)
my DS shouldn't be altered? I've tried this theory with a known defender dagger and a regular vultite dagger and also an off the shelf 0x dagger and the results are my DS is the same with the vultite and 0x dagger and +5 with the defender dagger....so I guess it would be the same with a handaxe...hmm.

I also have one more question. How does one mechanically test for permablessed weapons? I heard that when a bard sings to a permablessed weapon it just shows up as "it has been temporarily blessed to hit undead etc" as like a normally blessed weapon. Do you just have to swing it a couple of thousand times or what?

I'll try and find this out tonight. My bard is like level 10 though so I don't know if I can get it out of the weapon.
Ok NM I'm a dumas, a bard that age can't hold the weapon.

I'll come sing to it now if you like Drew. My bard is in Mule and old enough.
