[Old Ta'Faendryl, East Entrance]
Two huge columns flank either side of a walkway that leads out past the city walls. Each column is miraculously intact, but so badly tilted that they lean against each other in a precarious equilibrium, forming a triangular arch over the opening. A road leading north and south runs past the opening, and a large square plaza extends out to the west. You also see an Ithzir seer.
Obvious paths: north, east, south, west

A thread of blood red magic issues forth from your hand toward the Ithzir seer. It coils itself around him, whirling malevolently before disappearing within his body.

The paving stones of this open plaza fit together so precisely that the entire area appears to be covered by one huge slab of granite. No sign of cracking, pitting, dust or debris mars the hard surface. Even the ubiquitous vines creeping up the walls that surround the plaza seem reluctant to cast their invasive branches across the polished pavement. You also see an Ithzir adept.

You search the Ithzir adept.
He had a twisted crystal-tipped staff.
You discard the adept's remaining useless equipment.
He carried an acid-pitted gold chest on him!
An Ithzir adept's body shimmers slightly, then fades from view like a dissipating phantom.

[Execution Square]
The paving stones of this open plaza fit together so precisely that the entire area appears to be covered by one huge slab of granite. No sign of cracking, pitting, dust or debris mars the hard surface. Even the ubiquitous vines creeping up the walls that surround the plaza seem reluctant to cast their invasive branches across the polished pavement. You also see an acid-pitted gold chest, a twisted crystal-tipped staff and the Shalla disk.

The path near the city wall is composed of chocolate-brown clay, cracked and chipped in places where it has dried after a season of heavy rains. Extending out from the remains of the city gate, it wends its way up hills covered in bushes and a dense growth of deciduous trees, then drops from sight as it ducks behind a bend in the distance.

[Old Ta'Faendryl, East Woods]
Tree-dotted hillsides rise on both sides of the path, providing ample cover for the wildlife living in the woods. The road here is mostly flat as it meanders along the city plateau, although there is a slight incline to the north. One especially large modwir tree lies fallen near the edge of the road, its roots helplessly exposed.
Obvious paths: northeast, west

You kneel down.

You duck your head and crawl into the fallen tree.
[East Woods, Hollow Tree]
It is dark and cozy inside the trunk of the tree, the curving wooden walls provide a feeling of warm security against the dangers of the night. A thick growth of moss has crept within the trunk, forming a soft, spongy carpet the entire length of the hollow space. An opening at the end of the trunk leads out to the woods.
Obvious exits: none

Your disk arrives, following you dutifully.

You move to a sitting position.

You put a sharply twisted orase runestaff in your black leather cloak.

You gesture and invoke the powers of the elements for the Piercing Gaze spell...

Suddenly a dark splotch erupts from the lock mechanism and envelops you! Time seems to slow down and almost stop...

[Temporal Rift]
Time and space seem to swirl around you. You catch brief glimpses of events both past and future. Beyond these strange and confusing visions extends a vast, ever-changing field of stars, pinpoints of light against unfathomable utter blackness. It is very cold here.

He has minor lacerations about his head and a possible mild concussion, some minor cuts and bruises on his left arm, a completely severed right leg, deep lacerations across his back and a blinded left eye.
He has a twisted crystal-tipped staff and a suit of trimmed leather (worn).

The Ithzir seer no longer appears so weak.

You move into a defensive stance, ready to fend off an attack.

Speaking to an Ithzir seer, you say, "There is no escape."

You feel at full magical power again.

Shalla, you little willy wanker! Way to steal my thread title! Hoho.

That's the glyph trap, by the way. As Shalla just indicated, you can use it to your advantage to get people killed. I used to smite people all the time using it. The only drawback is that you have to be able to hunt OTF.

It's quite simple, really. Bring a glyphed box with you into OTF -- keep casting at the Ithzir until you get one (or if you're lucky more than one) to fade. Once they fade, immediately cast 416 at the glyphed box. This will transport you to the Temporal Rift. If you wait momentarily, the Ithzir will fade in. They are now trapped there for a certain amount of time (I'm not quite sure how long). Then, you take the gylphed box to someone who you (secretly) hate and ask them to piercing gaze it or 407/408 it. When they cast at it, they get transported to the Temporal Rift where your Ithzir you have just trapped will be waiting to attack them. Unless the person you hate is level 90+, there is a 90% they will get killed by the high-level Ithzir before being able to escape from the Rift. This is brutal, because you can't cast or attack in the Rift -- but the Ithzir CAN. Hoho.

You can also merely drop the box at a populated place and hope someone will piercing gaze it once they realize it's locked. You'll see them set the trap off, and literally moments later see them bite the dust. Not ONLY do they die in the Rift, they are forced to decay. Lovely, like.
