So my company opened a cafe on the floor below me with oepn Wifi for the patrons. Just so happens I brought my own laptop a couple of times and have checked it out. I got a very good signal from my desk which is way cool since my job's network is way secure etc...

Today for some reason my computer states, "Firefox can't establish connection to the server at hotspothome.com:8080." which is the Cafe's Network. I can see it through available wireless network and it says I'm connected but it won't load the page.

Anyone able to make some recommendations to help me trouble shoot and goof off at work today?

You might have a 169 IP address, try redoing the connection by disabling/re-enabling your TCP/IP stack under properties.

Can you do like:

"disabling/re-enabling your TCP/IP stack under properties"

for dummies instructions?

Will this effect me connecting to my home network which is "secure"?

Here is a wild shot. Is your computer set up to connect to a wireless network using a network key ? If so perhaps that is stopping you from connecting.

or Firewall?

Yeah it's open WiFi for the patrons to use.

I have a network key or encryption code I use for work. I can't connect to open networks until I delete the key. I am using an older network card for 802.11b networks.
