A number of deputies charge in, led by the night watchman.

With great ease, the night watchman grabs Raistlaine and shackles his wrists.

"Aha, Varlet! I have you!" the night watchman cries out.

With a keen eye, the night watchman glances over Raistlaine quickly. He says, "We'll not have you dying before sentence is carried out. Let's get you healed up, though there will of course be a slight charge for it." With that, a demure looking city official, evidently an empath, comes forward and heals all Raistlaine's maladies.

The night watchman then drags him off.

Dude, my rogue is capped. I was going to do something regardless of what his gld rank was. I was curious if he was a rogue; if I cared about what level he was I would have checked his fame.

AestheticDeath

I just figured he went easy on him because he was apparantly a rogue with little experience.

If I had done that, and found the guy stealing from me was mastered in several guild skills, stealing from a first page fame list rogue - I woulda killed him, or lat least actually taken the hand, and stolen something back while he was stunned.

If you've never interacted with him before, how would your character know he's a "first page fame list rogue"?

AestheticDeath
11-11-2006, 04:07 PM
By typing fame rogue 1.

Honestly, if I was going to be picking pockets I would do some cautious looking around. Make sure and highlight names of people you can figure out are high level, professions such as sorcerers, or rogues. Anything dangerous.

The guy probably just got a few ranks in picking pockets and went dipping his hands in pockets for coins. Not really the best idea if you wanna do it successfully.

<<that's as lame as checking someones fame before doing anything>>

If you're retarded.

<<If you've never interacted with him before, how would your character know he's a "first page fame list rogue"?>>

By looking at the fame lists. I think you're neglecting that fame is a way of saying, "Hey, I'm a pretty famous guy, you should know who I am." I've never interacted with 99% of the people that I know are alive due to their fame.

Why wouldn't you? Basically, it's an In game way of delving into your characters supposed knowledge of rumor and reputation of other adventurers, akin to having a dungeon master let you roll a check on your characters knowledge of a particular subject, which because it a roleplaying game, you haven't had the luxury of ACTUALLY growing up in, living in, and actual knowledge things in Elanthia past the documents.
