Runestaff user, Sword and Board user, and Brawling sorcerer. The War Sorc is an option, but eh.

You can have a bent more towards Necro, or Demonology, or you can not bother with the lores at all.

So what would a base training plan for a runestaff necro sorcerer look like. . . if you could draw one up real quick, id appreciate it.

Place stats for something simple. The reallocate away from that at the last minute with something you'd have placed at start for a stave user.
Just slightly altered for growth from 0-10?

You might be able to call up Simu 636-925-3172 (damnit I have Simus # memorized... is that bad?)

And give them your CC# and get accounts that were closed down with that billing info. Worth it to call, say you dont recall you account name etc, see how they will work with you. At least... if the character has any levels or gear.

http://tsoran.com/trainerGS4.4.2.7.zip

I stopped making plans for people, but using that spreadsheet you can figure out all the stats and training without much trouble.

Each of the stats for a dark elf sorcerer will max at 100 if you use these numbers..

str - 88
con - 85
dex - 62
agl - 73
dis - 68
aur - 49
log - 62
int - 73
wis - 62
inf - 73

Obviously thats too many points. 695, when you only get 660. Most people tank one stat, normally CON, or INF, sometimes STR. I prefer INF right now as I dont see a use for it.

Thats my sorcerer right now. I kinda screwed up what I was doing. Had his stats set up for max CS while training him(max aura and wisdom), and tried to triple spells, and harness power. At the younger levels DS wasnt much of an issue especially with mass spells from the park. Stopped playing him after bout 2-3 weeks, and realized his free month was almost up, so I re-did his stats for max growth. And left his training at what I had with the other stats. I may wind up using his fixskills if I start playing him again.

My other sorcerer is deactivated right now, but I had him trained to utilize maelstrom and implosion.
I had
1x shield
1x brawling
PT until max health
climb/swim as you need it
1x perception if you like
1x arcane symbols
1x MIU
1x harness power
2x spell aiming
1x elem mana control
1x spirit control
rest in spells and didnt mess with lores

Make sure and fully single in sorcerer circle, go for whatever else you like/need.

I'll chime in (btw if you want some more help, you can IM me at JesseREvans, and I can go over stuff with ya)

Maxing stats for 100 is a bit unrealistic for the vast majority of sorcerers honestly, and with the addition of fixstats potions into GS via the AG it's even less important. Personally I'd suggest placing stats for TP maximizing. So get your mental stats up high from the get-go, and just be sure you have enough STR and/or CON to deal with encumbrance (though phase helps with this now).

Strength (STR): 64
Constitution (CON): 40
Dexterity (DEX): 45
Agility (AGI): 45
Discipline (DIS): 70
Aura (AUR): 85
Logic (LOG): 83
Intuition (INT): 83
Wisdom (WIS): 85
Influence (INF): 60

Those are my starting stats, and I've been quite happy with the results. TPs are quite important, particularly at lower levels, as is CS. Tanking mental stats will allow for a favorable position with both issues.

As far as skills go...

1x elemental mana control
1x spiritual mana control
1x harness power (Be CoL...just do it sans an RP reason not to)
1.5x necromancy (you'll need it for AD unfortunately)
.5x demonology (you'll want it for CoS and phase, if not minor summoning)
2.3x spells
2x spell aiming (you can lower this later around your 40s or 50s if you want)
1x MIU
1x AS (you can increase both of these later, and I highly suggest it, but 1x in each is fine for early trains)

Hope that helps

Maxing stats is totally doable. Its how I got my other sorcerer to 32 in GS3 before they fucked us all over. I just didnt hunt with CS spells. I doubled spell aiming and used maelstrom. It never failed. All I had to have was 10-20 mana per kill. And back then I got 3 mana per level.. these days you can get 5 or more mana per level.

Necromancer

The FM strategy is not very effective later in life. You can't afford to stand around a creature that long, and you end up spending a lot of mana to keep them in the room.

Here is my sorcerer and he is practicing for Necromancy. Changing the 2x in spell aim to 1x as was mentioned above has been bouncing around in my mind but the real benefit i see right now is FI and aimed limb disrupt. I have seen posts here by other sorcerers who hunt OTF where they have a focused Maelstroms running. This has saved their behinds when they have been in round time.

I agree with the COL. At a young age you might want to consider 2x in harness power then as you get older reduce it to 1x. If you decide to become a volner, you might want to consider 1.5x in hp. When you get to 4 or 5 trains, find a sorcerer to teach you sacrifice. This will extend your hunts. Costs 2 spirit points but when I was hunting in stronghold i could get 78 mana from a sacrifice.

Oooh excellent job on the necromancy. Get that up 2 more points quickly, and your MAL will be at +4. Also, to be honest, you could easily ditch 10 ranks of demonology, barely feel it, and increase your MAL to +6.

Or...buy Querthose's crystals and have a +10 MAL!

As far as FM in OTF....I can't say I've seen that one. And you'd pretty much have to be capped to sit in front of things long enough for that to work out (let alone the time you spend casting a spell that may or may not ever come to fruitation).

The one major, but underused, benefit of 710? Open Maelstrom. It'll clear the entire room out; anything on BCS is going to run away. THAT can come in handy when things have suddenly taken a turn for the worse.

Here is a link where Jenovadeath has cast focused maelstrom on an Ithzir seer.

http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthrea...12834&page=232

No matter what one choses it doesn't matter it is all personal preference With 2x in spell aim you can cast 111 and use wizard wands. I know Virilneus uses 111 quite a bit and Rheisia targets limbs off the Ithzir.

JD being...capped with tons of toys (and an excellent grasp on hunting actually).

Yes, 2x spell aim is debated among older sorcerers. I will point out, however, and V also is 1x in summoning lore to make his 111 as potent as it is. I'd say that's a lot of TPs to invest into one spell, but eh...I've got 1x perception, 1x survival, 132 ranks of necromancy, and a 50m silver wand for one.

So I'm in no position to judge.

One can alway hire a ranger to find your moonflowers. In return for some spell ups. I was 1x in perception at this point in time I will probably leave it with 50 ranks.

True V has a ton of summoning lore and is one of the major bolting sorcerers out there. I know we will never bolt like wizards. Like I said 2x spell aim is a personal choice. If you don't use wizard wands, 111, Focused Implosion, Focused Maelstrom, and aimed limb disruption (a favorite of mine) then 1x will be fine.

It's not a fluff skill, but the ambush pushdown mitigation is curved around squares and semis who can 2-3x in it. 1x is helpful if you're like-level or higher level, but even then it's still not going to mitigate much. Ithzir are still knocking Querthose into offensive at 1x perception with only a few levels on him.

Straight from www.nilandia.com

In order to benefit defensively using a rune staff, it is best to have at least eight magical ranks per level. A magical rank can be in any magical skill in the Character Manager, and each skill, regardless of cost, is weighted equally. Eight magical ranks per level is the approximate equivalent to 1x training in two-handed weapons and provides defenses as if the user had 10 additional parry ranks. Each additional magical rank per level will increase the caster’s effective weapon ranks by 5%.

Magical skills include:

Arcane Symbols

Elemental Lores

Elemental Mana Control

Harness Power

Magic Item Use

Mental Lores

Mental Mana Control

Sorcerous Lores

Spell Aiming

Spell Research

Spiritual Lores

Spiritual Mana Control

I only have 10 ranks of perception on all my characters. In GS3 I was fully singled -- but after the GMs confirmed perception does diddly squat for any of our spells, I dropped it.

Here's a good log of how crucial chanting the correct spell in your cloak of shadows can be, out of the blue.

Yup, and they'll get you out of some sticky situations too. Having an animate around in OTF can easily mean the difference between a quick death and an escape.

Against ranged attacks. Just use 140 or hide in PvP situations.

Necromancer
11-10-2006, 05:55 PM
Yeah, 140 and then any disabling spell. People with ranged attacks don't *generally* have berserk to climb out of immobilization, so they're easier to keep down. Also, the nice thing is you can remove either limb, and they're screwed.

Asha
11-10-2006, 06:25 PM
All very true.
And if it's about first to hit, so you have no time to immobilize, then it's back to who hits their macro first.
I use mana on some foes and nothing but ranged on others.

Everyone always assumes that all PvP is two players of roughly equal levels playing professions of roughly even strength. You CAN be killed by players half your level if they get the drop on you not being fully prepared. An archer is a very easy build to kill by a lower level character. A sword and board or brawler not as much.

Asha
11-12-2006, 04:31 PM
Only a ranged attack or bolt from someone who was utterly prepared for it while the sorcerer was on his cig break in the park or dais.
If I was expecting to be attacked I'd just stay in defensive and have my bow out. Not much could get past that.
If I was attacked out of the blue for no reason at all, then yeah they'd have a really great chance to do some damage.

Fallen
11-13-2006, 09:56 AM
Ambush pushes you into Offensive. An archer's offensive DS blows. Just like a Runestaffer, they are easy to bolt and they have shit DS in offensive. I dont like the build. Further, you only need a 101 endroll to kill someone with Feras. Without that shield to provide that 10x DS and chance to block, it is that much easier to get it.

If I was attacked out of the blue for no reason at all, then yeah they'd have a really great chance to do some damage. >>

Bingo. Never put that bow away.

Asha
11-13-2006, 04:45 PM
Archers DS in offensive does not blow compared to runestave or sword and board.
And since an archer should at least 2x perception, legend has it that will help against ambush. And to be honest, I see hardly any difference in DS from guarded to being ambushed.
And I'd put my bow away every time, I hid when I'd rest.
If I was expecting to be hit while RPing I'd keep it out of course.

Fallen
11-14-2006, 01:45 PM
You're telling me an Archer's DS in offensive compares to a 10x shield (Not hard to get) and a 4x-5x weapon?
