Final Fantasy XII keeps kicking my playstation's ass, locking it up something fierce. Anyone else having problems with this, or is my old ass PS2 just finally dying for games? (died for DVDs about 6 months ago.)

I paid 20 bones and had someone work on my son's old PS2, and it takes DVD's and FFXII, which it wouldn't before.

My old PS2 only works with PS1 games now. Been like that for a while.

Use the old ps1 remedy. Flip it on it's back and play the games like that. My ps2 is going on 5 years old and still play every ps2 game that's not a blue disk. More than likely, the freeze is due to the lens not being close enough to read the disc properly. Flipping it on it's back helps. Just remember to catch falling discs when you open it up.

I was half considering photoshopping a PS2 as an upside turtle... but then I saw this and thought why bother, this'll convey the message.

The PlayStation 3 will launch in the United States, Europe, and Australia on November 17. The 20GB version will retail for $499 and the 60GB version will retail for $599 in the U.S.
Oh joy.

The official word from a gaming company that is not Sony or Square-Enix stated that the first gen PS2s can't hack it. The second gen can play it as long as it never had much use prior, or you will run into lock ups often enough where the game is unplayable. The 3rd gen and the thin PS2 should not have many issues at all. The only way they would is from lots of use.
That to me is BS, but I saw it happening. Most NEW games for the PS2 will require you to buy a new system. Perfect campaign for the PS3.
I had planned to run out and grab FFXII but my console locks up on GTA San Andreas. So I'm SOL!

The WII will flop, or at least do as well as the previous Nintendo's compared to the other consoles on the market: IE not as good.

I agree. I will still be picking up a Wii though, as I have young children and feel that Nintendo games are just more fun. Plus I want the new Zelda.
For any game that I would want for the PS3 I will probably just buy it for the PC.

Yes, definately. Nintendo's have always targetted an older audience. Heck, all the adverts for the PS3 I've seen have been purely aimed at an older, 18-30 gaming audience. Similar to the Xbox 360, it's been pushed more as a lifestyle tool than a gaming station.

Working fine here also. One nice feature of this game is you can set it to wide screen ratio.

Ok just for the record im technically challenged, do you need a big T.V. to use the widescreen feature correctly or will it work on a 19". My man wont let me use the big T.V. to play games on (the bastard).

Ok i just realized i could try it out for myself and see if it did work.:forehead:
I blame the cough syrup.
Actually, it wont. What you’ll see is a scrunched up version in a normal 4:3 ratio screen. Its when you change your set to 16:9 that it looks right. But you probably know that by now.
I am so officially addicted to this game. Final Fantasy is just one of those things that makes me completely giddy.
Currently making my way out of the palace dungeon!!!

Me too. Bought it last Thursday and already logged over 15 hours. (more if you count the restarts) Got out of the Palace and working on the 5th Mark before continuing on the story line.
My biggest complaint with the game is not being able to switch the x/y axis of the camera control.
