if you have the best reasons to love someone, but also have the best reasons to hate someone, and you know their death is near, how are you supposed to feel?

Think ahead 10 years. Ask yourself which you regret more: Knowing that they died not knowing how much they meant to you, or knowing that they died knowing exactly what they meant to you?
