View Full Version : Slide Whistle

Well I won the crate summoning slide whistle at the EG auction. While it was the one item that I was really interested in, I'm always cautious when it comes to items that attune forever.

That being said, I am willing to listen to offers for the whistle. I really don't want coins, but they can be included in a trade. Items I am interested in are 10X dagger-based weapons, 10X small shields, DB items, x-realms transporters, and other neat toys.

Anyway, I don't plan to attune myself to the whistle until I am positive about it, so feel free to make some offers. If you have items that are worth more than the whistle, I have coins/items, so I'm sure something can be worked out if I want it bad enough.

WAY cool item.. Great scripts here are most of them.

You give your crate a shove that sends it crashing over on its side, dumping everything inside onto the ground. (With stuff inside)

You give your crate a shove that sends it crashing over on its side. It sulkily stands up and totters back to your side. (Empty)

The antique faewood crate yawns its lid widely, somehow managing to look bored.

The lid of a battered antique faewood crate snaps open and closed with a hollow thump, providing a bass beat in time to the rapid staccato tapping of its wooden legs. As the percussion performance draws to a close, the crate looks around expectantly. Waiting for applause?

A battered antique faewood crate trundles around Leff on its wobbly wooden legs. The irregular tapping sounds like one of its legs is gimped.

The antique faewood crate turns to face a passing bird, and suddenly bolts off after it, lid snapping furiously.

The antique faewood crate snaps its lid viciously at the cougar. Satisfied that dominance has been established, the crate trots smugly back to stand behind you.

A battered antique faewood crate waddles over to the Furrowfoot disk and examines it. The crate's lid opens slightly, and the ornamental scrollwork along its lid manages to convey a contemptuous sneer.

Isn't there an item pretty much exactly like that in a Pratchett novel?

Update: Yep: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/reader/1857989546/ref=sib_dp_pt/203-4860749-6663117#reader-link

What's its use? Is it like a cooler looking disk?

It also will not explode after you leave the lands. Not sure about after death.

not after death either, and it holds more than normal.

Just did an official test.. Was logged off for 8 hours last night. When I logged in this morning and blew my whistle again..

Your antique faewood crate is hiding somewhere.

A battered antique faewood crate scampers up to you on its wooden legs.
>l in crate
In the antique faewood crate you see an enruned haon strongbox and a scratched steel box.

So it never disintegrates and WILL keep your things overnight even if you log off.

Lucos you should just keep that thing

It's a definite possibility that I will. I really do like it, and I'm liking it the more I think about it. But you have to remember that it attunes, so it's a one shot deal. I'd rather sleep on it for a few days and see what else is out there. If I can put it into the hands of someone and make them happy, and they hand over an item that I am just as happy with, then it's all good.

Naos said that he wasn't sure if the items would be preserved if the game itself went down. So it's not as reliable as an actual locker.

That is actually pretty tight.

The trunk also will hold 10 items, no weight limit, which makes it significantly better than a regular disk. I have a few 10x shields to barter with, I'll be PMing you later Lucos.

Does a treasure box count as one item? Or one + everything that's inside the box?

TheEschaton
10-30-2006, 06:41 PM
Treasure boxes usually count as only 1.

what if they've been opened and items placed inside?

I assume it's like a normal disk in that all items inside the box also count as one

Latrinsorm

Boxes (unopened) definitly didn't count as one in disks as of a few months ago.

Seran

Ok, so basically the whistle disk is the equivelent of a semi-perpetual floating disk that may or may not hold things after a cast. It's capacity is the equivelent of a regular disk cast by a wizard with -only- twenty ranks of Elemental Lore Air? Keep in mind a regular disk has a weight limit of a whopping 500lbs, but the number of of boxes is limited to the total sum of items they contain.

Until it's determined whether or not the capacity is 10 items regardless of their being a container with contents, this item is worth maybe 15 mil at most due to it's uniqueness and it's scripts.

Don't go trading the house for it to some unscrupulous wizard who'll talk you up and make it seem like it'd contain the world.

Um..a regular disk has a capacity of FIFTY pounds, not 500, last time I checked.

I've fit a couple of 50+ lb boxes in a disk before. I think the limit for a standard disk is something like 7-8 items or 200 lbs.

Yeah...I remember getting all excited if I couldnt fit two boxes in a disk.

The crate looks pretty cool. Can you have a crate and a disk at the same time?

Seran

Um..a regular disk has a capacity of FIFTY pounds, not 500, last time I checked.

Disk item capacity has a base of 8 (this includes items inside other items). Training in Elemental Lore, Air increases item capacity. 10 ranks of Elemental Lore, Air will increase the total item capacity to 9, with the maximum of 20 items at 186 ranks. Floating Disk weight capacity is set at 500 pounds.

Taken from the Simu website under the description for 511. Please try again.

Wow, what a prickish attitude you have  Obviously, I was mistaken, however I never stated it as fact, simply said 'last time I checked' (ie. I'm unable to put more than 50 or so pounds in a disk cast for me by a wizard). Its nice to know the actual formula however. And a question comes to mind. If a wizard who trains in that many ranks of elemental lore air ranks casts a disk for someone else, does that person still get the bonus or do you have to be the wizard who cast it to receive that?

If you must be the wizard with the lore ranks to be able to get that benefit, then this item is still very much worth it, as not everyone (as I'm sure you know) is a wizard with that many ranks of lore.

Yeah I was under the impression self cast disk was better then a disk from someone else. Not sure where I got that tho.. I dont use them much.

Disks would be pretty fucking useless if they held 50 pounds.

I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Of course, I have an inbox full of about 30 people who do not share yours.

But I tell ya what...if you happen to find one, I'll buy it from ya for 20 mil and you can tell everyone of how you cheated me outta 5 mil silver.
