He's good at making hotels, I'll give him that. But he fucked up royally this time (and no, I'm not talking about his decision to take the dealer's tokes away).

The Picasso painting, Le Reve, has been part of the Wynn's private collection for awhile now. He bought it for 40 million, and recently made a deal to sell it for 140 million. Not bad, right? Except for the fact that the other night while he was showing it off to friends, he stumbled, put is elbow through the painting, creating a 2'' gash.

Oops.

Yes but now he can become a wrestler and use the finisher "The Hundred Million Dollar Elbow".

I heard he had it gunned down in the middle of the night and buried in the desert somewhere. He was like, "ELBOW I'M TAKING YOU TO THE DESERT. WHERE THINGS HAPPEN."

Yikes... I know I'd be half-suicidal if I did something like that. Of course, if you already have hundreds of millions, it's a different story.

Yeah, I'm sure he didn't have it insured. I'm also sure he'll end up a pauper as a result...

I'm just hypothesizing here, but I'd imagine insurance doesn't cover what happens to the painting when it's outside of its lovely protective world of glass and alarms. Unless, of course, it's in transit and protected in some manner that's laid out in the policy.

SW was known for wandering into the gallery at odd hours, demanding that all the alarms be turned off and the glass lowered, so he could get right up close to the paintings (makes sense, being damn near blind and all). It can be restored, but it ain't gonna be cheap.

He was talking about the 2" gash in reference to...nevermind.

What'd he say when he did it?

"Oh shit, look what I've done. Thank God it was me."

Eye witness (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nora-ephron/my-weekend-in-vegas_b_31800.html).

edit: "This has nothing to do with money. The money means nothing to me. It's that I had this painting in my care and I've damaged it."

I want to be that rich one day.

if you looked at it carefully (which I did, for the first time, although I'd seen it before at the Bellagio) you could see that the head of Marie-Therese was divided in two sections and that one of them was a penis.

It's an ugly painting that leaves me with the feeling that Picasso didn't much care for women as a whole. I'd say the elbow was well done.

The left half of her face looks like a dick. I bet that was intentional.

I dont see how anyone can value a painting like that over 100 bucks or so. $140 million? WTF

SpunGirl
10-18-2006, 07:52 PM
Of course it was intentional. She's touching herself with six fingers while she's got penis on the brain. Hence the dream, which just sounds arty because it's in French.

Are you kidding? Not worth 100 bucks?

I'd give one of my testicles for that painting, on top of 140 million, if I had it.
