I hate self charging. Limited uses, work all wonky. Good for use in invasions, but not for a regular schedule.

I always preferred the mage rechargables or the self mana. Even scrolls.
Self charging is too much coin for the benefit.

For you maybe. But at high level with 202 ranks in magic item I cast the spell for a duration as if I had 101 ranks in the circle. So for Opals that's 2 hours per rub. 3x per day = 6 hours a day. More than I need. Before the nerf to 919 I did that with my 6x a day 919 item, was as effective as a 10x db item for me, at half the price.

I'm glad they're not as useful to others, keeps the prices down.

MIU and AS is the caveat with any magic item that has any sort of duration. My wizard has 202 ranks in MIU and AS and I think it's simply necessary for many reasons, but getting the great durations is probably my personal favorite.

I have a necklace with 506/509/211/215 in it and it's 4-6x a day. I say "4-6" because I can get 6 uses out of it. I've never been able to get more than 6 uses out of it during a 24 hour period. It has a max of 4 charges and at 2 hours a use it's more than enough for me. Obviously, it begins its recharge cycle once you use a charge.

I'm not sure if I'd part with it, but you can offer me an insane figure and I might bother replying with a "no."

Good luck finding an Opals self charger, years ago I paid about 50m for my 5x per day earrings and I doubt I could replace them for twice that amount.

But who knows what they may release at the Ebon Gate auction.

Your also assuming you never die.. But I see your point, for someone who doesnt play that much and has a long duration, it could be useful. Still way more expensive than scrolls, or mage rechargables. And very hard to find.

But unlike a scroll or mage rechargables, it is permanent.

And yes, death isn't very common either.
