I'm thinking I just need to vent about my day at work .

I own a uniform shop in California, We sell public saftey uniforms, EMT, Police, Sheriff, Corrections, etc.

I have a customer who bought a uniform 6 months ago. At the time he and his girlfriend purchased it, the pants we had in- stock only went up to size 46 he needed a 3XL shirt and size 50 pants. The shirt was in-stock the pants were not. I explained to him that I would have to order his pants and I did not know when I could get them. He told me to please alter his shirt right away put the patches on and embroidery. Which I did .

I ordered his pants and was informed that for only one pair of size 50 that it could take me up to a year to recieve them. Unless I wanted to place a much bigger order of at least 200 pairs of size 50. Needless to say, I did not want to order that many pairs of pants in that size. So i attempted to order the same pants from 4 other stores. ALL of which have had no luck getting me the pants.

I called my customer and explained the situation to him. And offered him another brand of uniform, He said NO he would wait, He did not care how long it would take . HE INSISTED , i even explained to him that he could have 2 uniforms for the price of the one he had already paid for. He still said No that he would wait.

I called him at least once a month to give him a status update on his pants. Everytime offering him the option of the other uniform. Each time him turning me down.

Which brings us to last week when he called me , and began to scream at me about his pants, I remained calm and offered again to provide him with the other brand < which he also wears so Im not to sure why he kept saying no >
He then became irrate. He demanded a refund which I told him was no problem to refund him the price of the pants but was unable to refund him for the shirt that had already been altered for him . He began to call me a bitch and worthless among other things until i put my foot down and told him i was not going to continue the conversation with him, If he would continue to disrespect me. He then called me a cunt and hung up .

His girlfriend came into my store today for a refund, I promply filled out a check for her, for the amount of the UNRECIEVED pants and went to the back and pulled out his shirt, which I handed to her. She asked me " What is this ?" holding up his shirt. I said oh that is the shirt we altered for him like he asked . She said " and this ?" holding the check :wtf: I said that is the refund for the pants. She threw the shirt on the floor and said" I will not accept this ! " I remained calm as I attempted to once again explain that we do not offer refunds or exchanges on ALTERED GARMENTS. I even pointed to the sign I have posted stating just that. She then began to scream at me about how she would not accept the shirt and a refund for the pants that he had paid for a uniform. I stated once again that I would be more than happy to get him another uniform but the previous pants he wanted were not manufactured in size 50. She then grabbed my coffee off my sales counter and threw it on me. < Thankfully it wasn't still to hot > And then screams " Fuck you bitch , I'll see you in small claims court ! " I calmly replied " well I am sorry you feel the need to do that, suppose I will see you there " She then turned and attempted to spit on me !!! This whole time i had not raised my voice to her at all , I was attempting to keep things as civil as possible for my other customers who were in the store.

I do understand that she is upset that she did not get a whole unifotm, but she was offered an option.

I mean seriously ?! I do not think i deserved to be called names , have coffee thrown on me or be spit at.

Can anyone tell me if they would have handled the situation differently then perhaps if i have this happen again I can deal with it differently.

Not to mention.. YIPEEE now i have to go to court :club:

I'd be pretty pissed off too if I were a size 50.

She assaulted you? That'll go over well in court.

Bravo on your patience, though. Wow. I would have given her the bum's rush after the coffee.

If you have it on security video, you could probably charge her for some sort of assault.

And you might want to change your policy to not alter any garments until you have the entire uniform.

Normally I would have wiped the floor with her... But I stopped to think that I did have other customers in my store at the time and didn't want to come across and some bitch.

I really don't think I have anything to worry about in court, since the sign is posted and I did tell them several times also.

Not to mention the assult...LOL

* Normally yes, but half the time people only buy a shirt or pants its pretty rare they buy the whole thing unless they are a new hire. And HE INSISTED that we go ahead and alter it even knowing that the pants would have to be ordered. So i agree with you but in this case its a little different :puzzled:

First of all, it scares the bejesus out of me we have people in size 50..size FIFTY either being a police officer, sherrif, or corrections officer. Aren't they supposed to take some sort of annual physical training course? Holy fucking shit.

Second of all, you'll have to keep us updated on this whole situation. It is going to cost them more money in court/lawyers fees than those pants ever fucking cost him. That couple sounds like total trailer trash to me. Furthermore, it sounded like you said you had customers in the store, yes? Her claim is never going to hold up if you can show confirmed accounts that she threw coffee on you.

I personally, would have gone over the counter and at that bitche's throat...hence the reason I don't work with the public anymore. :D

I'd see if you can get a restraining order out on the both of them so they cannot step foot into your store again.

You should have called the cops right away, had them come and see you in coffee stains, hopefully have a customer who was there at the time talk to the officer as well. Get it all recorded in a report to have filed, for just in case they do actually take it to court. Not to mention if you wanted to file charges.

Heh, and thinking about the type of uniforms you sell, did any of the customers happen to be cops?!

Did any of them say anything?

I definitely would have called the cops after she threw coffee on me. As for them trying to sue you, I really doubt it. I've dealt with psycho customers before who have threatened to sue over retarded stuff like that, but never do.

The six months that this guy has waited around for a size 50, he could have more constructivly used to slim down to a reasonable fucking size.

One of them was yes, and he just said HOLY SHIT, asked if i was ok and all that and asked me if i planned on calling the PD in. I said no that it was handled for the time being , and he offered to come to court for me if she did indeed sue me.

The other was an EMT and he said he would look at my " burn" .. i politley turned him down even though if i wasn't married :bananahit:

Yes when they first get a job here at least in the sheriff dept. they have a physical but NEVER again after that.. and yes i do think its bullshit that they can be that big and get away with it sorta sad.

secondly, I will gladly keep you all informed should get rather interesting if she does really take it to court

and there would have been nothing better had i beat her ass, but like i said i had customers and not to mention it is Saturday and my son was in the store also < in the backroom playing his Gamecube but there just the same > and i really didnt feel like telling him why some bitch was bloody laying on the floor. So that is basically why i didnt beat the shit out of her. Did really want to try that new Taser gun we got in this week too.. Those barbs would have been funny to watch the EMT take out of her face. But I thought i would play nice and at least try to be professional

It might have tightened up some of his muscles and knocked him down a few pants sizes. You then could have charged him double for the fat-reduction service.
