LEVANT, Maine Oct 5, 2006 (AP)— A Levant man told police he lost control of his 2003 Lincoln Navigator after he was startled by a spider on Wednesday morning.
James Lee, 28, was trying to get out of the SUV when it smashed into a tree. He walked away with a bloody nose caused by the air bag.
But, it could've been worse. At least it wasn't the new Volvo XC90 he won in a contest.
Last month, Lee was one of 11 people from across the country to win a new vehicle from McDonald's, the Bangor Daily News reported. After finishing a Big Mac extra value meal, he got the winning game piece for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" game.
He hasn't taken delivery of the new vehicle yet.

Crashing a motor vehicle because of a spider...seems reasonable to me.

Camel spider?

I only ask because if it is, it is not really a spider, but in the same family as scorpians.

They say bugs of some sort cause most of the single car fatalities in the country, closely followed by drunk driving.

I think they are full of bullshit, personally.

Thanks for protecting the TP, sp1d3rd00d.

Really quickly, the only thing I fear, or maybe ph34r about spiders is when I walk through a gigantic cobweb and it gets in my mouth and I die. I'm not really filled with the jibblies because of this, per se, but it is pretty gosh darn nasty.

And since I have eaten lobsters I shall eat spiders. Or at least chocolate covered ants. Thems the shnizzles from what I have heard.

Also, wtf is up with companies like Volvo and Audi suddenly making SUV? Stick to the basics, yous guys.

Texas has nasty spiders... black widows, brown recluse and tralantulas to name a few. You get use to turning over your shoes and tapping them to make sure nothing has crawled in during the night. Thank goodness for my cat, he keeps those nasty things out of my apartment.

Brown recluse bites are nasty but as spiders they're really not that mean.

Yeah and tarantulas aren't very aggressive, not to mention that their bite hurts but won't poison you. It'll just make your hand a little bloody.

<<Camel spider?>>

It looks nothing like a camel spider. Usually the retardedly huge ones like that are huntsman spiders.

Haha. When I was about 7, my Dad found a Tarantula on a log in front of this big shed in we have.

He got a long stick and was poking at him and smacking him with it from about 4 feet away, and the thing stood up on his hind legs like he wanted to fight or something.

I remember my Mom coming out with a book saying they can jump so-and-so feet.
