The ports usually used by torrent software's blocked here, but LimeWire works. What's a good LimeWire alternative, since LimeWire seems to be full of false positives?
Why don't you just have utorrent use a different port? It's set 32234 by default I think but you can set it to any port.

I use Ares.. though don't use a pay version because it's a free program.

UTorrent is a good alternative like Drew said.
Kazaa lite is the only thing I would even attempt to use like limewire, but I hate those programs...

Limewire is absolutely awesome.
Except when I"m trying to download Smallville Season 6 Episode 1 and it gives me a man driving his penis into a vagina instead.
Not that I don't enjoy that almost as much, but atm I'd prefer Smallville.

LimeWire's great for most movies.
But go try to download Inside Man, for example. Thousands of hits, none that work. Same thing with a lot of songs. I'm not sure who's doing it or how but it makes it a pain to try and steal things.

I must be a Limewire genius then because I can tell which ones are going to be shit and which ones are going to work, usually.
The porn thing was very cleverly disguised though. Songs are where I never go wrong. I don't download movies very much so I can't speak for that. I prefer buying DVDs or seeing them in theater.

I agree Artha.
Lately I find lots and lots of crap on Limewire and i'm assuming at this point its an around the bout way for the RIAA to make p2p/Limewire less easy and therefore less popular.

Yep, pretty much my conclusions too. I'm 90% sure that I read the RIAA has a suit against LimeWire's authors, so this is probably in conjunction with that.
I'd prefer software that's P2P, not a torrent.

P2P programs have been going downhill for a while, ever since the RIAA, MPAA, script kiddies, and douchebags invaded it. Way too many fakes and inaccurate files.
As was said, try changing the port for uTorrent, you may be able to find one that'll sneak past any firewalls you're stuck behind. If it's only small music files you want, you may want to give IRC a shot. It's ancient, and if you've never used it, there's somewhat of a learning curve, but there's still some very active communities on there. In fact, most of the movie torrents you see originally comes from one of the IRC movie groups.
