Using the visual clues, find 50 dark movies hidden within the painting.

http://us.mms.com/us/dark/index.jsp

Seems stupid at first, but it's addicting until you manage to get them all.

By the way, some of the movies that are there I wouldn't really consider "dark." I was stuck on a few of them, and ended up having to use imdb to get the answers, and they didn't really fit with the whole theme. In other words, while a lot of the movies there are horror flicks, there's some that aren't in that genre.

"dark" isn't necessarily horror. Se7en and 12 Monkeys are both in there, and they're really dark without being scary.

Yeah. The Crow kind of made me think that, too.

What the hell are the two guys back to back supposed to symbolize?

And the juggling M&M?

And the planets smashing into each other?

War of the Worlds.

I am starting not to like this thing :(

LoL, the M&M's have trademark symbols on them.

Yep, that's true. But I wasn't refering to those movies. They've actually got a comedy movie in there, as well as a couple of dramas, suspense, and action movies. Yeah, they could still be considered "dark," but they didn't really jump into my head my first time through.

Okay. Dead at 48 out of 50. The stairs and the Grim Reaper in the fence circle have killed me, even after I tried Googling. I am brain dead.

The stairs is 39 Steps. I had trouble with that one, as I'd never even heard of the movie.

The grim reaper is Death, right? And he's standing in a zone, right?

39 Steps is a Hitchcock movie. Same for Rear Window and The Birds.

Not sure if anyone here is familiar with the work of Hieronymous Bosch, but the style of the piece is very much like his style. In fact, the figure in the bottom right is taken straight from Bosch's Prodigal Son (also known as the Wayfarer), just slightly altered. You can see the original at: http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/5panels/02wayfar.jpg

Bosch's style is definitely that of the surreal, though he has been dated to c.1450-1516, approximately 400 years before Dali and the melting watches. He turns normal elements in life on its head, and even the most common-seeming picture has some odd pieces.

Other pieces of interest include:
Center Panel from the Garden of Earthly Delights (http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/3garden/central/11centre.jpg)
Hell from the Garden of Earthly Delights (http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/3garden/wings/20right.jpg)
Center Panel from the Temptation of Saint Anthony (http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/90anthon/central/01centr.jpg)
The Seven Deadly Sins (http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/2deadly/7deadly.jpg)
Christ Mocked (http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/5panels/18mocked.jpg)
The Cure of Folly (http://www.wga.hu/art/b/bosch/1early/09folly.jpg)

Bosch and Dali are what would have happened if lysergic acid diethylamide was concocted before... It was.

I think I'm pretture sure that I still have my artbook from junior HS year where I gave fruit and instruments anthropomorphic traits.

<3 trippy HS art teachers.

Guess you just heard about 50 movies enough to identify them by riddle thru the grape vine. Well done!

The Omen pissed me off, because I kept thinking they were zeroes and I tried "Less Than Zero." When I figured it out I wanted to slap myself. I also had help with Pirahna because I've never heard of that movie.

I love these things.

Here's another one we did at work last week. Not as flash as the movie puzzle but still fun.

In this one you're looking for bands/groups.
