Selling my Prayer of Communion scroll. It has 12 charges remaining.
>read other smear scrol in ruck
It takes you a moment to focus on the smeared scroll.
On the smeared scroll you see
(603) Foraging
(330) Prayer of Communion
(603) Foraging
(207) Purify Air
(603) Foraging
(302) Smite

That is HOT.
If I wasn't after new toys, I would swoop in on that in a second.

I bet it would've been worth more when it alerted the GMs every time you read it.

You misunderstood. I had two broken scrolls. Each time I would LOOK at the scroll, it would send a message to the GMs, such as:
GM[s1137] INVALID SPELL (320) on a smeared scroll (50881905).
One of them (this one), had spell 320 on it. Since Commune is now 330, it was sending those screamers to the GMs.
The spell works just as though the Cleric had cast it -- it will notify the GMs, etc.

Is it imbeddable? Could you have extra charges added by a binding merchant?
...My mind is trying to work around mechanics, but I've only had decaf today :(
... ...I think I remember all of my Ebon Gate edibles I had hoarded over the second and third runs changing their spell identities when all the re-assignining of mnenomics started to roll in. Bah.

Commune is a spell which allows you to communicate with your IC God.
Whether the GMs answer or not is the question. I can't believe it's on a scrol.

Well, if you play a priest, it can validate your RP for the past ten years.
The only (really) successful commune I've ever had involved me getting bolted with lightning by Charl (and getting a feature out of it) and my chalice being blessed with the symbol of Charl.
And that's after 10 years of playing a Charl cleric, where I commune once a year or so.

Spell 330 - Prayer of Commune (COMMUNE) [AID #168]
Circle: Cleric
This spell takes effect immediately.
Effect:
Upon reaching this level in the cleric spell circle, the cleric is able to cast a commune spell in order to contact his or her deity. Casting this spell requests the presence of the deity who may or may not respond. If the deity does not respond, most of the mana points consumed by this spell are returned to the caster within a few minutes.
If the deity does respond, you will know it! The presence of a deity is not to be taken lightly, so use all due respect else risk losing the favor of the gods of Elanthia. The exact deity which responds is never quite assured regardless of which deity the cleric worships and serves.
When a deity does respond, your character may ask of him/her a few questions. The number of questions you may ask and the complexity are limited. A deity is known to respond in an ethereal manner many times and the best response you can usually expect is a prepositional phrase. You can be assured, however, the answer will be the truth if there is one.
As an example of how to be cautious with your questions:
A cleric, hopelessly lost in a maze asks, "How do I get out of this maze, lord?"
The deity responds, "By following the correct path."
You are cautioned to not attempt to pin down or outwit a deity who is being ambiguous, since there is usually a purpose in it. However you can expect that at times a deity will give very valuable information, especially when you are serving him/her in your quest.
Notes:
This spell, like most cleric spells, is utterly and completely worthless.

I had a fun commune with my Luukosian cleric. I decided to convert a 100 empath into a Luukosian. Until I killed her and she was deemed weak. I then got attacked by a whole slew of critters I've only seen in invasion. The best part was that none of them could hit, but to amuse the GM's I kneeled, still wouldn't die, and eventually laid down. Ended up with a cool feature for the cleric and all doing the RP, though it wasn't fun when one of my friends was transported from Landing to Teras for talking smack to Luukos
