So after Eoghain declared a game of king of the hill in Sylvarraend, all hell broke loose. Confirmed kills for me:

Granted... Eliaku had me, Akari could have had me, and Biggan had me twice. But, 0 deaths in this little endeavor.

That was a whole heap of fun though, even if Eliaku is the only one I killed. On accident.

Finally at last a sancted arena for PvP , and the Gods have set us free on our own. I have been in the game, for a little over five years, and PvP has always been an issue, its just a matter of how and where it takes place, now the GM's can warn ya, and tell ya to take yer conflict to Sylvarraend the happy new home for PvP. What a bright Inovative Idea Eoghain, take a Lawles stown and turn it into a sancted PvP arena, I couldn't have thought better myself, Even though Jhato was the first to die in the new PvP area, due to the magic of Ariond.

Any ways, I will take note of who and where my defenses are left unattended when walking thru Sylvarraend, as i may have a few enemies!!

Please add that you have to make sure the person you are intending to kill is consenting.. otherwise you WILL get pulled. The GM's did NOT say that unconcented PvP was ok.

Greetings,

I understand that there has been some attempt at making Sylvarraend a "war zone," a "PVP zone," perhaps a satellite "boulder." Let it be known to everyone that this is not going to happen. The fact that there is no "law" in this town at this time does not mean that there is no policy. Unconsented attacks of any kind causing disruption, injury or death to another are NOT acceptable and will be dealth with accordingly.

If you observe any such behavior in Sylvarraend or its environs, kindly take a moment and REPORT the incident right away.

Sylvarraend falls under the protection of Ta'Illistim and so far has not needed to bring in justice assistance from the city. If citizens and visitors continue to be harmed, however, this can be easily instituted.

This message will be posted in the Illistim forum and in the General Announcements board as well.

Consented conflict is part of policy regardless of where the conflict takes place. You don't have to have a "town" or an "area" to have conflict... just a bunch of players that agree they want to play that way, and that don't involve people who didn't agree. It's not that difficult to pull off without getting in trouble.

I think it would be cool to release a Krolvin town that was basically a free for all. No laws, kind of a low grade town with hole in the wall bars and minimal luxory.

Or just go the arena route.

A Krolvin town for this purpose sounds apt. Isn't Sylvarraend supposed to be a Sylvan town? I didn't think Sylvans were known to be a particularly cantankerous race, so I'm not sure how well this concept fits in that area.

Yeah, thats why I thought Krolvin. They are more uncivilized and underdeveloped. Just have a town that has broken down buildings in need of repair and everything would be grungy. I wouldnt even mind having limited law but then have a corrupt law system or a deputy who is normally too drunk to do anything. Maybe only have enough room for 1 or 2 people in jail so if its full they have to let you go or release someone.

Just needs to be something different.....Something that isnt Simu...

Frankly Im annoyed by how some GMs dismiss the idea of a free-for-all area on the officials. But what Im missing here is: why all of a sudden Sylvarraend? The boulder is still there right? Is it just that somewhere in the EN was desired so the OTF crowd can join in?

I think that (the dumbnosity of one-on-one fights) is why the idea of group fights are so appealing.

The GM=god thing is second to only Age=level on my list of gotta-go GS substitutions.

Serving as a most unique centerpiece, a piece of amber has been cut into the shape of a star and holds the fossilized remains of several unknown tiny creatures. You also see a plain wooden strongbox.

Facing the square sits a well-kept building, its walls made of stacked round river rock. The structure's clay tiled roof glows with a dull red hue, the tiles chipped here and there from years of exposure to the elements. Golden yellow light is barely visible in the crevice between the front door and its sturdy frame, above which hangs a carved wooden sign.

Whats needed is a simple way to 'flag' yourself PvP.
(yes, thats a WoW feature)

That way people who are in Sylvarrend on legitimate business (ie. fletcher, bank, etc) can walk through without being mistaken for a combatant.

Well, pretty much all of the combatants are on psinet (odd coincidence). So we manage to do pretty good only attacking people that we KNOW are playing around.

I do have to say, last night was beyond fun. It was like the pennant chase on crack, or the glad games...Good times.
