Straight up. Most of the noobs couldn't handle the spreads and I don't feel like regulating it. However if we want to get a side pick em using spreads for the big boys with a little something on the side to make it interesting I'm game.

I voted for Marv Levy in the FL gov primary.

If Marv Levy asked me to give him my left testicle, I would do it instantly without questioning.
But Marv loves me, and all Bills fans, so he'd never ask.
WHERE WOULD YOU RATHER BE, THAN RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW?????
I'm a bit psyched for my first NFL season in two years.

It was a very good close game up until the last 5 minutes. If the 2 interceptions hadnt occurred the game could have gone either way.

Again this year I'm looking at all the statistics, previous season records, injuries, the spread, position depth, and then saying fuck all that and type in the team I like better.
You can always bet on me voting for the Redskins and whatever team is playing Dallas.

Same, I always vote Bills, and for any team playing another AFC East team. If two AFC East teams are playing, I vote in this hierarchy: Jets > Patriots > Dolphins.
And I try not to vote for Dallas.

Oh, and if anyone wants to take a bet on the Bills-Pats, the spread is 9. I'll take the Bills and offer 9 1/2, even, if you give me 3 to 1 odds.
I'll put down 100k (silvers in GS, not $$).

Huh...you're offering what exactly??... how do you take the bills and offer 9.5, even.
TheEschaton
09-08-2006, 07:37 PM
The spread on the Bills Pats game is Bills (+9). Which means, I'll take the Bills at 9 1/2, which says if the Bills win, or lose by less than 9 1/2 (namely, <= 9), I win the bet. If the Patriots win by 10 or more, whoever takes my bet wins.
But I require 3 to 1 odds at 100k. Namely, if I lose, I pay 100k, if you lose, you pay 300k.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. Don't know the lingo all that well.

The point spread is +10 Bills, btw.

Hmmm, I thought I was increasing my risk by offering that half point. Obviously, my mind is not working well. The spread is 9, I'll offer 7 1/2.
That means the Patriots only have to win by 8 points.

Spreads are different all across the board depending on where you shop it. There is no such thing as an official line. FYI.

You had it all fucked up my friend.
You don't get odds (3-1) when your using points. Points are there to even the sides.
What you want is to take the points on the bills 9 1/2. Meaning you have to lose by 10 to lose the bet. Patriots will need 10 points to cover and in the NFL 10 points is ALOT of points as far as gambling goes.
You won't get 3-1 odds on spread bets ever. If you were to take the money line on the bills ( to win straight up no point spread) it's currently at +445 meaning you'll get 445 for every hundred you bet or 4.5 to 1 at a MUCH greater risk on a spread that deep. Handicappers in the NFL are RARELY off by much.. but it is the first week. That being said I almost always try to find a reason to play the dogs.
Who the heck is Sean2? It seems like changing handles is cool again.

Roundup:
Ardwen: 12-3
Xyelin2739sum412cool4u, Atlanteax, RichardCranium: 9-6
Apathy: 9-5 (no pick for the Bucs-Ravens game/debacle)
Stunseed, Elrodin, Parkbandit, zawicki, Drew: 8-7
Eschaton, Sean: 7-8
Bob, Latrinsorm, Augie: 6-9
Wezas, doing his best Jay Mariotti impression: 5-10
In games where the PC showed a preference, the preference was 8-6 (Jags and Cowboys had 8 picks each).
Of the 5 people who picked the Bills, only one might finish above .500 (Elrodin). We have only ourselves to blame.
