Is 1004 failure rate effected by spirit level?

My bard wracks to purify. It does not appear to make a difference.

I believe level, mental lore: manipulation, spellsongs, and some stats are the determining factors of 1004 success.

Alright, simple question. I can't believe I have to ask this since I used to have a titled bard.


But, how can you tell if a gem is an orb or not? Is it by purifcation, or can you sing to it to find out?

You can use 1004 and if it's pure or an orb already you will get the following messaging ... "you sense that it cannot be purified any further".

If it's not pure and you continue to sing 1004 this messaging... "begins to twist and turn as the very essence flows into it filling the imperfections" ... means you've purified it and made it into an orb.

Quickest way to determine it however is to loresing to it and if it's an orb you get the following ... "seems to resonate with your voice, and you feel it trying to draw power from you".

If you also get ... "It pulses strongly with the rhythm of your words"... you've found yourself a mage rechargeable.

I also don't believe spirit has anything to do with success. Some gems though are just naturally shatter prone.. Sapphires being top of my list as #1 hand removers. Glimaerstones rank up there too.

I have noticed sapphires tend to shatter easier as well.

What gems are easiest to take as far as you dare?
