Anyone know this formula offhand? Been looking for it for awhile.
How does magical ranks relate to how many non-selfcast spells a person can wear behind the Barrier? Is it a direct correlation between spell number and number of ranks (IE, 9 magical ranks necessary to wear Strength behind the barrier?)

Here's what I use and it seems to work.
Add up all magical skills you have, including # of spells.
Take that answer and divide by 3.
The last 2 digits are the sum of magical spells you can wear not counting self cast spells.
So say you have 54 total magical ranks (square example).
54/3=18
That gives you 18 points to use. So if you dont know any spells at all, you can wear 401, 406, 509, 202. (1+6+9+2 = 18)
Use of statues will not affect this formula, as they seem to be neutral.
Wearing haste will affect this formula, and will result in spirit burst if it puts you over the limit...
So will using a blue crystal, and a ruby amulet.

Wow, I'm gonna have to bump up the magical ranks then.

If you have the possibility to learn the spell cast at you, it counts for 1/2 a rank.
IE any Minor Spiritual or Minor Elemental spell on a rogue count as 1/2 a magical rank.

Oh, so 101, 103, and 107 would count for 5.5 total? Then another 2 for dims, would be 7.5?
Okay.

That I did not know. Thanks! I always suspected that if it were in your profession's spell circles that a discount might apply.
