GIRD and STOW changes · on 8/7/2006 10:04:59 PM https://www.play.net/images/forums/links-arrows.gif (http://forum.gsplayers.com/) 1357 (https://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=102&category=1&topic=1&message=1357) https://www.play.net/images/transparent.gifhttps://www.play.net/images/transparent.gifThe verbs GIRD and STOW have been updated.

GIRD will now consider the options set using READY. If a default WEAPON and SHIELD are set then both of them will be readied. If no shield is set but a 2WEAPON is set, then the WEAPON and 2WEAPON will be readied. If only a SHIELD or only a WEAPON is set, then only that item will be readied. The hope is that this will make GIRD more attractive as a quick option to READY your combat items. Type READY by itself to see how to setup your default items.

STOW now has an ALL option. STOW ALL will simply STOW the items in your right and left hands.

Why don't we change things no one cares about while not touching the Goal List for 2006?

That'll be fun, let's do it just to annoy everyone.

I'll touch your "goals list" buddy.

Ummm, this is a hella cool change. It makes scripting standard for whether you're a ranged user, a TWC user, or a one-handed whatever user.

My scripts always had to use stored variables for these things, for my different mutant characters, now I can just use READY to set them once, and all of them can use GIRD and it's done.

I still prefer STORE to STOW though. STOW I use for things I pick up on a hunt, but STORE AMMO for my arrows is invaluable.

Stow change is nice, but what exactly changed with gird?

Well, if you were a two weapon user, GIRD wouldn't draw your second weapon, I believe. Or that might of been just me.

Monks, et al, are complicated mechanics that require months of design, building and QCing.

Adding a few extra lines of code to an already existing, simple mechanic take a matter of hours. Probably less.

If I'm not mistaken, Sinden's a new GM as well? That's a good thing.
