Hey, I've been on the officials and I've heard they've been making changes to CMAN. In that defending against one will use dodge skill instead of CM. (And I do believe this has been approved). Anyone know any further details about this? Will Rogues just boost in popularity by that much more over that "other" square profession (just 2/1 for dodge)? Please discuss.

I dunno, wont be a change for those warriors who kept their dodge and cm at both 2x to begin with. The good thing will be when they standardize some of the spiteful GM maneuvers (krag dwellers for example).

Did they give a hint when this will happen at all? I am glad that I kept my dodge for my ranger at 1x plus his mobiles. As for my Sorcerer, I hope the implement the change to phase to help them against maneuvers. Dodge is so expensive for pures.

That's awesome.

Subdual strike, or not getting disarmed... Subdual strike, or not getting disarmed.

Tough choice there.

This has been in the works for years. Unless they've said something about it happening SOON, I wouldn't hold your breath.

In addition, why should pures get ANY maneuver defense? Beyond the puny +10 TD, what do we get to help against your sodding spells?

Asha

Either way, it's happening.
It'll be on scrolls too I expect. Probably RSN since the coding can't be much different to 540.
Pfft. :(

I'll love it if it works with Implosion, Boil, etc.

Watch them say it only works at all with lores. Feh.

Fools! I told you they didn't give jack shit about warriors. Warriors = Lowest Population = Lowest Cash flow = No work done on them. Very simple.

Latrinsorm

Yeah, because it's not like warriors have the second lowest cost for dodge in the game.

Oh wait. Yeah it is.

WTF work do you even want to be done on warriors? We're ridiculously impervious to physical assault already. Maybe you'd like the GMs to kill the monsters for your character like they do for pallies?

The standard response was usually "but squares can get spells to help them defend against spells. Pures cant do anything." But Im sure youve heard it before.

Yes, but CMANs don't kill on 102 endrolls.

If a warrior is killed by a 102 endroll I'd think it was a pretty shit warrior.

Asha

Not an endrol of 102 but still I'd forgotten this..

... 1 point of damage!
Wicked slash of frigid energy shatters right eye into a thousand tiny particles! Penetration to the brain causes instant death!

* Blueland drops dead at your feet!

I guess you could be right afterall.

That would be their style. You will probably need to train in certian lores to block certain attacks.

Debating square vs pure survival in Gemstone reminds me of this quote.

I don't know if I ever told you guys this before, but this job is basically sitting two people who don't like each other at opposite ends of the table, giving one guy a dollar bill, giving the other four quarters, then listening to them argue for a few hours about both why their dollar is better and why they each got the short end of the deal compared to the other guy's dollar.

The guy with the quarter's dollar is better.

#1 His money is more versatile, it can be used in vending machines, arcades etc. He can also split his money and give it to other people/He can deposit some of the money and use some of it to buy things.

#2 If the country were ever to go bankrupt, the metal in the coin will carry an intrinsic value above and beyond that of the paper dollar.

#3 He can use the quarters as hurling weapons and kill the other guy with the paper dollar and take it. Subsequently his DS will be so low after he has thrown the quarters that a Troll King will come by and kill/loot him.

No the dollar is better. It can be exchanged for quarters at any number of machines made for just that purpose, a machine that turns 4 quarters into a dollar is much more rare. Also the guy with the quarters in his pocket can't sneak around, the man with the dollar is much more stealthy and will be able to get the drop on him and steal his quarters.

The guy with the dollar bill, can wipe his ass. I'd like to see you wipe with 4 quarters.

EDIT : I would not actually like to see it... But ya know what I mean.

In theory you can meltdown 4 quarters, hammer it into a small knife and fix onto a bicycle handle by wraping it around with duck tape. This will make a killer weapon.

I'd like to see you doorjamb your dorm neighbor's door shut with a dollar bill.

Ladrion, young grasshoppah, this is the PC. Anything and everything will be debated, or argued (depending on how one looks at it), here. Factions will form and opinions will fly. It is the way of things.

But Master will we be allowed to venture forth once we are quick enough to grab the quarters from your hand?

When you can show me a quarter that before was MY quarter, we will discuss your progress. :)

This was a weird thread. They were talking about supposed upcoming changes to maneuvers. You know, like the things creatures do to you that aren't spells. So I dunno where some of you got to talking about "it" being on scrolls or requiring lores. As for warriors, they're usually in the top three professions played, so that low population comment made no sense.

You should read the whole thread before you give up on understanding it. Sorcerers were supposed to get changes to their spell Phase (704) when the 'combat changes' were out.
Now, wether you think the latest happenings are actually the combat changes they were talking about is up to you though.
