My favorite part of the story is how they found the site in the first place.

Eh, I've heard other recent stories where they do exactly that to stop kids from bullying each other or to stop another Columbine before it happens. It's not that far-fetched.

Some kids from my school's sister school got suspended or expelled or something for writing myspace blogs about killing their teachers. It's bull.

And do you know how many lawsuits there would be if it turned out the kids really did go through with it and the school did nothing to stop it?

Sounds like Thought Crime to me. People say stupid stuff all the time, MySpace is just another outlet for that, and anyone with an ounce of intelligence* wouldn't put their plans on the internet anyway.
* They probably wouldn't plan a school shooting, either, but I digress.

I think most schools now have teams of police, or other professionals, that routinely screen sites like MySpace. I'm sure they do in my area, and I have been told they do in other areas where friends of mine live. Too many problems were being uncovered with regard to these sites and the type of material that was being posted there.
It's not okay to threaten to kill people, whether it's on a website or face to face. It's just not acceptable. In light of some of the horrific attacks we've read about, I don't find this kind of scrutiny all that surprising. In most of the cases of violence in schools, evidence has been uncovered that the perpetrators had been talking about their plans on websites, or amongst their friends. Trouble was, it wasn't found out until after the fact.

I could probably get a job as a cop. I monitor these types of web pages all the time.

I post a yearly "Fuck you, freshmen" topic on my school's myspace forum before school starts. I don't know if the staff has seen it yet, but there have been multiple "DON'T USE MYSPACE GUYS" campaigns.
