A rotting corpse swings a rusted wheat scythe at you!
AS: +260 vs DS: +121 with AvD: +29 + d100 roll: +74 = +242
... and hits for 62 points of damage!
Stomach shot lands with a hollow *thump*.

You can't go there.

[Castle Varunar, Outer Ward]
A fierce battle appears to have taken place here. On the ground is a broken shield, the head of a waraxe still imbedded in it. The walls show the sign of a fire, the scorch marks rising well above your head. The wall is chipped in many places, and a shattered arrow lies at your feet.

[Castle Varunar, Outer Ward]
Noting the steep slope to the inner ward, the broad dirt stretch to the outer wall, and the ramparts with battlements on both sides, it seems that the outer ward is a well-designed trap. Attackers caught between defenders on both walls with no cover and uncertain footing would find themselves in nothing but a killing field. You also see a roa'ter and a roa'ter.

No idea.

And I also have no idea how anyone would thump someone with a damn scythe. No one hits with the handle. Ever.

That's a rank 1 crit. That's some nasty randomization.

Well, scythes are supposed to be halberds, so that's 57 raw damage. IIRC the stomach shot is worth 5 damage, so it doesn't look like excessive damage weighting is the cause. However, 57 is more than enough to cause a rank 9 crit, so I don't know wtf is going on, unless maybe those scythes are negatively crit weighted. Someone should grab one and whale on a rolton and see what happens.

Can't pick them up.

If the creature's alive, I'm pretty sure you can? Disarm one and leave it alive.

By can't pick them up I'm assuming he means that they disintegrate upon attempting to interact with the weapon.

Unless they are messed up you should be able to disarm them while the creature is living and then using it until it dies.

I carried around one of those Abyran'ra spine swords for a long time in my backpack during the GSS. That rocked.

:( Ent's spine was turned into a weapon a few times during the Mule invasion.

And yeah, lucky you didn't get stunned.
Then agan, my healer was dragging someone along on a hunt last night.
He was getting hit for 50ish points of damage, and wasn't getting stunned.
