View Full Version : Do I have botulism.
I was really hungry last night. My house had two things, water and and a 6 month expired can of ravioli. I was really hungry, the can wasn't bugling or anything so I made sure the ravioli boiled some and ate it. Fast forward to this morning and I feel really weird and have dry mouth one of the symptoms of botulism but not really that uncommon. So, do I have botulism?
I doubt you contracted botulism, but would definately advise drinking shit loads of water and if you start to feel really really bad or begin vomiting..
get help.

From Wikipedia:
Commercially canned goods are required to undergo a "botulinum cook" (121°C for 3 minutes) and so rarely cause botulism, there have however been notable exceptions (such as the 1978 Alaskan salmon outbreak). Foodborne botulism has more frequently been from home-canned foods with low acid content, such as asparagus, green beans, beets, and corn.
Ravioli has tomato which is pretty acidic, so I'd guess you're ok.
Unless you've been chained to the shitter, you dont have botulism.
So No.

If you're not dead...you haven't ingested botulism toxin. There's other types of food poisoning.

I'd say it's nothing more than a mild case of asshattery.

A perfect example of why anything even remotely close to the expiration date should be thrown away. Ugh ugh.
But yeah, if you have serious food poisoning, you generally won't have to ask. In fact, you'll be so busy shooting things out of both ends and laying on the bathroom floor groaning that you won't really give a damn what anyone else thinks.

I went back to sleep and that seems to have cured what ailed me. Boo botulism, hooray beer.

I think you got Rabies

Maybe, but more of a case of the stupids.
Seriously... how are you going to ask an on-line forum to diagnose you? 10% will offer you their armchair medical expertise from past experience or Google searches (which you could have done yourself), 80% are going to tell you to die, 19% are going to go off-topic and if you are lucky 1% may give you good advice but by the time they post you’d be dead.

And one guy's gonna do his math wrong and it'll all add up to 110%.

Crap, ok, 9% will go off-topic.
I’m the same guy who calculated that if we divided all the money in the world up and distributed it to everyone that we would all get a MILLION DOLLARS.

Botulism would be pretty badass, IMHO.
"I just had strep and tonsillitis for four days without treatment. Woe is I."
"STFU beotch, I have botulism."
Botulism ftw.
