I can swing a lance in 6 and nag in 5 and ambush 9 and 7 respectively, I was wondering which weapon to bond with, thinking long term here. Are there any high enchant nag out there? And which weapon is generally better?

There are no high enchant true naginata's out there.

A bonded lance with 2 ranks of percision is hard to beat.

So I've heard, but I'm still swinging at 6 instead of 5 seconds, is the extra 1 sec a really big deal?

Get better Agi/Dex and it won't.

Human race, so won't get much better unfortunately.

Nag are naturally weighted, though, aren't they? I know there was a recent change, but I can't remember. I think it had to do with moving the weighting from as to avd or some such, but I can't remember.

No. They were naturally 4x (so they could be ebladed to 8x). They changed them to give a +20 to avd now.

Wonder if there are spells that can boost dex by a bit.

Enhancers.

I don't know what you consider a "true" naginata, but you can enchant one to +35 with +20 AvD.

Are there any permanent enhances out there for wearables? Or are they all on weapons and such?

7x isn't high enchant, IMHO. And the +20 add to DS.

Rogue giftbox items. Premium is your best bet.

Hrm. That's not a deal breaker, since the stopping power of a lance will generally put things down for the count on the first hit. Of course then you have to contend with multiple opponents, things walking into the room mid-RT, etc. You could certainly deal with the extra second, but it would probably get annoying.

Alternatively, you could opt for surgical strikes instead of sheer damage by using a spear (two-handed, of course). Between 2x CM and 1x Ambush you could be reliable with punctures to the eye at a fairly modest level. MSTRIKE would also be much more efficient using a spear.

Are not permanent. I don't think any enhancer is permanent, but some have a whole lot of charges.

Rogue giftbox items.

Only last for 3 months max, not permanent unfortunately. Best bet is to find a enhancing lance, and then use it for keeps meaning ET to 10x etc.

I'd personally go with lance. My bard swings the lance in 6 (4 if I wanna spend 35 mana), and I've never really had any trouble stance-dancing.

That said, a 7x (effectively 9x) naginata does sound really nice.

Absolutely untrue. Mine is still going since the first day of GSIV. It just isn't permanent.

Effectively +55 = effectively 11x.

Er.

One, my boots lasted from the day they were released up til 6 months ago when I cancelled the account. I recharged them once.

And how did you plan on getting a 10x enchant?

Makkah

Right. 11x. Attack of the senior moments (compared to a 16 year old)...

But enhancers all depend how many times you remove/wear them because that's what drains a charge.

And how did you plan on getting a 10x enchant?

Don't merchants come by anymore?

Wonder if I can get a bard to imbed that Tonis song or whatever that gives a -3 to RT.

So if I wear it once and never remove it, it'll be effectively permanent?...I don't think so.

You can't imbed songs or spells over level 20.

Merchants don't come by that often. Enchanting merchants are even rarer, and you'd be wanting to spend over 40 mil for a 4-10x enchant. Probably more. IF they'd do it.

Then you think wrong. Enhancers randomly use a charge when worn, but automatically use them when removing/wearing them.

Stray, do you know if logging in and out of the game with an enhancer equiped uses a charge? (Really glad I saw this, I was contemplating a script to equip/unequip my enhancer based on when I was going to use it)

StrayRogue
07-18-2006, 02:35 PM
I've never heard that before. Considering how much I've logged on and off over the last year or so, I would estimate that it doesn't. Unless they have literally THOUSANDS of charges.

Artha
07-18-2006, 02:38 PM
I think there's a very very small chance it'll use a charge when logging out or when being moved around via SORT.

StrayRogue
07-18-2006, 02:38 PM
It will use one when used with SORT.

Lysander
07-18-2006, 02:41 PM
Enhancers, what do you mean Stray by random chance when worn? Is it by time,by pulse? And does it say when it's using a charge?

StrayRogue
07-18-2006, 02:45 PM
As in it randomly uses a charge while in use. The time between charges used is random. I imagine it would be dormant while not in use (not worn). No it doesn't say when it uses a charge. No one knows how many charges these things have, or the frequency of how quick they lose charges "randomly". They DO use a charge up when removed and reworn. That much has been confirmed by GMs.

Celephais
07-18-2006, 02:48 PM
be an interesting way to try and measure charges... using a bard and putting on/removing some crappy worn enhancer to find the threasholds of how high a giantman or a dwarf can count.

Haste? Seems more logical to get a 6 mana spell imbedded for multiple charges than a 35 mana spell for one or two charges, especially when the 6 mana spell definitely gives -3 to RT and the 35 mana spell gives only -1 with no air lore.

You can't imbed songs or spells over level 20.

That too.
